CHAPTER TEN - NEW YEARS

The Christmas dinner was great, sure it was awkward at the start, but Ashley and Jack enjoyed spending it with Nick and Joshes parents. It was now New Year's Eve, and the boys were getting ready to head over to Brayden Maynards house for the New Year's party. All the players who would be playing for Collingwood next year would be their puss the coach and plays plus ones. Now of course Nick, Josh and Jack had forgot to tell Ashley about it so when she came downstairs and sore the boys had dressed up slightly, she was a little bit confused.

"Where are you lost of to" Ash had questioned the boys.

"Remember, Maynards hosting the New Year's celebration" Jack spoke up first expecting her to know what he was talking about.

Ashley stared at the boys confuses "No" she responded.

Josh shook his head "We forgot to tell her didn't we" He stated.

"Yep" Nick said.

"Well now you know" Jack spoke.

Ashley stood there laughing at the boys who all looked at each other disappointed for forgetting to tell her. Nick was the first to speak next.

"You wanta come" he said a little embraced, but Ashley had already took of upstairs.

"WASN'T WAITING FOR A INVITE" She yield

What felt like seconds later Ashely had run down the stairs makeup and hair done wearing a navy dress with straps that wrapped around her neck and a pair of matching high heels.

"Well lets go" Josh said grabbing the car keys and walking out the door.

Brayden Maynards house big, which made scene for him to be hosting the New Year's party, they entire the house. Josh and Jack walking in first and everyone cheered for their current and new teammate. After them was Nick and Ashley, at first everyone cheered then they all looked at Ashley quietly discussing her and Nick together, then began to talk again. Ashley looked around the room and sore that many of the other girls there were in a similar outfit to her.

As she looked around someone began to walk towards her and Nick, it was Darcy Moore. As he approached them, he waved to Nick giving him a high five and bro huge.

"Good to see you dude" he spoke, "excited to have you on the team".

"Yer, I am stoked to begin training" nick responded.

"Better be, and who might you be" Darcy said to Ashley.

"Oh, I am Ash, one of Nicks house mates" Ashley replied.

At first, he looked at Nick raised his eyebrow than turned back to Ashley, "Ahh your Jack best friend that he's been talking about" Darcy spoke.

"Yep that's me".

"Well, it's good to meet you" Darcy said shaking Ashley hand.

The nigh continued on and Ashley spoke to many of the players, Isaac Quaynor, Brayden Maynards, Patrick Lipinski, Darcy more and couple other she didn't remember. For most of the night she talked to Isaac and Patty who were great company. Later on in the night Isaac spoke.

"So, what's it like living with Nick and stuff" Isaac questioned, this comment court everyone's attention around them.

"Yer, I mean there's not much to say, it's pretty chill" Ashley responded, as she looked around for him she notice that she could see him, in fact she couldn't see any of her house mates.

"Really" Patty questioned in a mocking tone.

"Where are you boys trying to go with this" Ashley asked knowing that there was a motive to the conversation.

"No where" Maynards spoke for next to her, "Just sussing somethings out".

Ashley just rolled her eyes at the comments, "Well if this is going were I think it's going than no, me and Nick aren't dating" Ashley said.

"Really" Isaac said, "Because the fact that you have been looking around the room the whole night for him says otherwise".

Ashley blushed hot red, I was true, the whole nigh she was looking for him hoping he was there but never was. "I wonder how Nick will endue the season with you guys has his teammates" Ashley said whilst standing up, half amused half annoyed as she walked way to find Nick.

The boys all laughter as Ashley walked way then went hush as Jack Josh and Nick had appeared round the corner from where Ashley was walking. The three all looked very confused, everyone at the party was sitting down and from the looks of things were talking to Ashley before she had stood up.

"OI NICK YOUR GIRL THERE SAI" Maynard started but was quickly cut off by Darcy.

"Boys, quick it" he spoke with a loud booming voice. "We've had our fun" he said looking up to Nick and winking. The players all laugh. Nick just looked even more confused. Jack and Josh had already joined the other and was were asking what had happened.

"Let's go outside" Nick suggested.

"Sounds good" Ashley replied.

When the two walked out they stood on the porch looking out at Manyards back yard.

"What happened" Nick asked concern in his voice.

"Nothing, just boys being boys".

"Guessing they asked if we're dating".

"How'd you know, you listening in" Ashley questions.

"No just when you rock up to a party with a girl on your arm people assume things" Nick responded laughing at his own joke.

"Yer fair" Ashley spoke, the two just starred at each other's eyes of a moment. Nick step forwards and held Ashley's hand in his.

Seconds later jack came out, "oi it's the countdown you two coming".

"Yep" Ashley replied looking around Nicks body.

"Great" Jack said duking back in.

Ashley began to walk of dragging Nick along, they still held hand at the enter back in, a few players noticed but didn't say anything. They were all counting down.

"10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1... WOOOOO HAPPY NEW YEAR" they all yield.

Nick lent down and spoke in Ashley's ear "Happy new year Ashley" this made her blush hot red again.

"Happy new year Nicky".
