Eventually, Y/n laid down and fell into a fitful sleep. His dreams were filled with nothing but blood and...Han. He'd been trying to push down his feelings since he'd been brought back to life. He didn't want to think about them. He didn't want to process them.
Now that he was forced to sit with himself, though, it all hit him like a truck. He forced himself to wake up and stared up at the dark ceiling. Crickets sat outside the windows as the cool night breeze drifted in. These were only temporary distractions from his main thoughts, though.
A boulder of emotions sat on top of his chest as he finally accepted the truth. Out of his two admirers, he had fallen for Han. If only I had realized that sooner. Tears filled his eyes once more as his lips quivered. Then maybe...maybe I would've done more to keep him around. Yet, it was too late. There was nothing he could do. Fate had already changed.
The tears rolled down his face at a torturously slow pace. He went to ball his hands into fists only to find that someone was holding his hand. Y/n looked down at his hand and almost started sobbing once more. He forced himself to look away.
There Han was. Head down, fast asleep, and holding his hand. He wanted to pull his hand away, but he didn't want to wake him. He sniffled and did his best to avoid looking at him. Y/n didn't want to see the state Han was in. He didn't want to see just how close he was to disappearing.
Han stirred beside him and he tensed. I should've known that he would wake up. He always knew what I was doing. He was always there for me. Y/n braced himself then looked down at him again. This time, he met eyes with him. They just stared at each other. The mere moments stretched on for an eternity. If Y/n could stop time, he would've done it at that moment.
"You're crying." Han whispered.
Y/n shakily opened his mouth to reply, "You're going to be gone forever."
Han sighed and squeezed his hand gently, sitting up properly. "I won't be gone forever. I just..." he trailed off, looking down at their conjoined hands, "I just won't remember any of this."
"Then I am losing you." He paused as he sniffled, "How much longer do you have?"
He looked away from Y/n and sighed. "At best, two days. Maybe less."
Y/n couldn't respond. If he did, he wouldn't be able to say what he wanted to. He would just break down into a sobbing mess. Y/n didn't want to cry, he wanted to stay strong. He needed to stay strong. If he wasn't strong then...then what was he?
"Y/n, while we're here alone I just want to know one thing. So, please be honest." There was a quiet desperation in Han's voice as they looked at each other, both men now crying. "Did you ever..."
Han didn't need to finish his question as Y/n already knew what he was going to ask. "You're all I've ever cared about. It pains me beyond measure that you're leaving me-" he hiccuped, "so early. I...I never got to tell you how I felt." His voice cracked. "Maybe in our next life we'll lay in bed together instead of fighting a war."
Han's lips quivered as he nodded slowly and whispered, "That sounds nice."
Y/n finally sat up, although shakily, and leaned over. He pulled Han into a tight hug. Y/n sobbed into his shoulder while he clung onto him. He wished for nothing more than for Han to stay with him. Han wrapped his arms around him and balled his hands in his shirt. This was the first time Y/n had noticed that he wasn't in the Elven armor anymore.
The two remained in each other's embrace until Y/n's tears had dried. He hesitantly pulled away from Han and instead cupped his face. He could see parts of Han's face fading already. If he could cry anymore tears, he would.
