"Invaded? By who?" Hyunjin asked as he stood. He grabbed Y/n's hand and pulled him close.
"The Humans! They must've sent Y/n as a distraction!" the guard exclaimed as he guided the two out of the room and down the hall.
"What?" Y/n asked quietly as he looked outside through passing windows.
Below the giant tree were the screams of Elves as giant plumes of smoke rose from the market square. His eyes widened as his heart raced. Had his superiors always been planning this invasion? Why didn't they ever tell him about it? Was it because of his affinity towards the Elves?
"Did they tell you about this invasion?" Hyunjin asked. A desperate tinge to his voice as they continued running.
"Not at all.." he trailed off, "I never would have agreed to participate in something as horrible as this," he turned his attention away from the window and towards Hyunjin, "You know me Hyunjin, I've always believed in peace between all races."
"I know you do," he frowned as he looked out the window himself, "That's why this is so confusing. I thought our relations with the humans were going well. Why have they suddenly attacked like this?"
Y/n racked his brain to try and find an answer. Every train of thought he followed led to dead ends. Until he remembered the banquet. What was the banquet for again? He asked himself as he desperately tried to remember. It wasn't a birthday, no, it wasn't for a holiday either. He gasped as a sudden memory filled his mind.

"This banquet is one of the most important banquets of the year. Every species, save for the Elven and their allies , will be present," the commander explained as she paced at the front of the room.
"Why won't the Elven be attending?" a man at the front of the room asked with his hand raised.
"They were unable to make it," she explained simply.
"That's strange," Y/n mumbled to himself, "They're always able to make it."

With this invasion, Y/n was correct in his previous statement. The Elven did their best to be present in every modern affair that required their attendance. The only reason they would ever miss was due to reconstruction within their forest. When Y/n arrived, there were no construction projects.
"I know what happened. I," Y/n paused as the horror slowly settled in, "I know why they're doing this."

"What? But," Hyunjin shook his head as he leaned against Y/n.
The guard had led the two to a reinforced room beneath the tree. The walls were made of the tree's roots which were reinforced with silver. Must be a repellent against werewolves, Y/n thought to himself as he leaned against one of the walls. Why would they bring me here, though?
"I always knew they wanted our resources, but to think they would go this far," the queen shook her head as well.
The queen was a young looking woman with kind eyes. Her hair was raven black while her eyes were a vibrant violet. Her hair was cut short in the style of a bob. While in the courtroom, when Y/n saw her, he thought she had softer features. Now that he was closer to her, the only soft feature was her eyes. The rest of her face was sharply defined as if an artist took their time with their sculpture. She was wearing slacks with a diamond chain around the waist. Instead of a blouse, she wore a crisp, spotless white long sleeve shirt. She wore loafers and many different rings. Y/n had to admit, the queen was beautiful beyond words.
