laurel bid the police officers a good night before she closed the front door. she angrily turned to the 5 teens behind her.

"how could you guys be so irresponsible?" she asked, an angry look on her face.

jasmine sucked in a breath, as she watched steven step up to laurel.

"mom, it wasn't that big of a deal. alright? seriously. the cops were just looking to break up the bonfire," steven said, trying to calm
her down.
"not a big deal?"
"yes.."
"i would say getting picked up but the cops for underage drinking is a pretty big deal, steven."

steven sniffed the air, and he scoffed.

"were-were you guys smoking, tonight?" he asked with a sly look on his face.
"what?" laurel asked, "keep you're voice down, susannah's asleep on the couch."
"well, i wasn't yelling. you-you-you were?"
jeremiah butt in, "just so you know, i-i didn't drink tonight."
"same," jasmine said, raising her hand, before dropping it down to her side.
"i was the DD, i swear."
laurel sighed, and looked over at conrad angrily, "you're the oldest. what the hell's gotten into you?" she asked conrad, "and when did you leave the house without telling anybody? and what in the world are you wearing?"

laurel turned to belly, and she covered up her dress with cameron's sweatshirt.
"it's taylor's. and why am i the only one not allowed to go out?"
laurel looked over at the jasmine sitting beside conrad. trying to focus on everything but laurel's glare.

"and belly, it's not that you're not allowed, it's that you have told us you were going," laurel shook her head, "how did you even get there?"
"i walked," she mumbled.
"jesus.. you know better than to walk that far down the beach alone late at night."
"can you stop treating me like a kid!?" belly said angrily.
"if you want to be treated like an adult, you have to act like one."
"then maybe you guys should too," conrad said. jasmine looked over him, and raised a brow. laurel looked pissed.

      laurel blinked at him.
"what does that mean?" laurel shook her head, "i hope you realize, this night could have ended a lot differently if your family, wasn't your family."
"we're sorry, laur."
"just, go to bed, guys," she sighed.

they all started to fileout of the room, jasmine leaving right behind jeremiah.

.    .    .

jasmine had lazily changed into her pajamas, and dragged herself to the kids shared washroom.
she found steven brushing his teeth by himself, and she went to her, and her brother's side of the sink and brushed along with him.

he spat into the sink, and rinsed his mouth. he looked up and glanced at jasmine next to him.

"well?" he asked, and watched her brush her teeth.
she gave him a look, and pointed to her toothbrush. after a minute, she followed his actions, by spitting out her toothpaste, and rinsing her mouth.
"well what?"
"how'd you like the party?"
she shrugged, "apart from getting caught by the police, mediocre."
"c'mon, you weren't even drinking. you would've been fine."
"you're right. but still."
he shook his head, "okay, well, did you make any friends at least?"
"god steven, you're asking like it was my first day of kindergarten."
"did you?" he repeated, ignoring her comment.
"sort of."
"really? who?"
"remember dog-walker boy?"
"elliot!"
"yeah! i saw him, and got his number."
"that's great jazzy."
"whatever," she said, shoving him lightly. he let out a small laugh.
"at least the party was worth.... something? right?" steven asked desperately.
"i guess you're right," she said, smiling a little.
he smiled too, and messed up her hair, "alright, goodnight jazz."
"night' steven."
