The Amber Mine of Mano De Dios was located in the deep forest of the Dominican Republic, right next to the river. The forest was filled with the sounds of insects buzzing and birds singing.A man dressed in a gray suit stood on a platform, holding on tightly to briefcase he brought with him. The platform was being pulled across the dark river towards the Amber Mine. As the man got closer to the land, he shakily held out his hand for someone to help him off. "Hola, Juanito. Hola." He greeted the man that took his hand.
Juanito was the head of the Amber Factory, being in charge of all business that went on there. "Hola! Bienvenido." Juanito greeted, helping the man off the platform carefully.
"What's this I hear at the airport? Hammond's not even here?"
"He sends his apologies." Juanito stated, walking with the lawyer, also known as Donald.
"We are facing a $20 million lawsuit by the family of that worker and you're telling me that Hammond can't even be bothered to see me?!" Donald asked incredulously.
"He had to leave early to be with his daughter, she's getting a divorce."
"I understand that, but we've been advised to deal with this situation now. The insurance company-!" He grunted as he tripped on a rock, Juanito catching him by his arm.
"You okay?"
The lawyer huffed in annoyance, straightening himself back up before he continued speaking, following Juanito into a mine shaft. "The underwriters feel that the accident has raised some very serious safety questions about the park." He blabbered on, Juanito sharing an annoyed look with one of his workers as they passed. "That makes the investors very, very anxious. I had to promise to conduct a very thorough on-site inspection."
Juanito stopped in his tracks, giving the lawyer a knowing look. "Hammond hates inspections. They slow everything down."
"Juanito, they'll pull the fire alarm. They'll pull the funding! That'll slow him down more!"
Juanito shook his head before continuing down the stairs. "Watch your head." He warned as he ducked down, the lawyer not paying attention as he hit his head.
"If three experts sign off on this island," he said, rubbing the top of his head to soothe the ache, "the insurance guys will back off. I've already got Ian Malcolm, but they think he's too "trendy". What they want is Alan Grant and his sister, Marlene."
Juanito whipped his head to look at the man, an amused look on his face. "The Grants? You'll never get them out of Montana."
"Well why not?" The lawyer asked, his annoyance clear.
"Because they're like me." He replied simply, staring at an amber stone he was handed by one of his workers. "They're diggers."
