The school, much like Hometown, was quite small. Thus, pretty much everyone knew everyone fairly well... Which made Kris even more of a weirdo than they already were. Not only were they the only human here, you barely knew anything about them. They didn't seem to have many friends but you and Noelle were on good terms with them as far as classmates go.

Over the years, you noticed they were acting a bit different around you. Sometimes catching hidden looks of theirs and them being slightly more awkward than usual when you were working on group projects together.
You didn't think much of it until one day they approached you during lunch break.

"Hey." Came the quiet voice from behind.

You turned around to face them, raising a brow in a bit of a surprised manner. They rarely initiated conversations like this.

"Kris? What's up?"

"I was wondering if maybe... could you help with my part of the group project after school? I kind of got stuck."

"Oh. Sure, I didn't have anything planned for this afternoon anyway." You nodded.

"Thanks." They replied, expression neutral as ever, but for a second you thought you saw a slight blush as they were leaving...

You two were making your way to Kris' home.

They were even more quiet than usual until the door of the house was shut behind them.

Toriel wasn't home from the looks of it.

You followed them to their room.

"So where did you get stuck? Berdly showed me a site last week, it helped with my part a lot, maybe we could start there?" You spoke up as you took a seat on the bed.

Kris remained idle at the door, a drop of sweat rolling down their cheek.

"...Kris?" You glanced at them.

"...I actually... didn't call you here for that." They muttered.

"Hm?" You blinked in confusion.

"I wanted to tell you something..."
They bit their lip, fidgeting for a couple seconds before they could get themselves to continue.
"I... like you." They mumbled with reddening cheeks.

Your eyes widened. You had no clue how to react. This sure caught you off guard.

"Uh...?" A perplexed noise left your mouth as your brain was still trying to process the info.

"...Sorry, I shouldn't have-" They faced away, probably thinking you didn't like what you heard, but you interrupted.

"Ah-no I mean, it's cool, I just, uhm, wasn't expecting... that." You chuckled nervously.
"So that's why you were always so cute around me." You smiled softly.

They sat next to you.

"C-cute...?" They repeated quietly as if they didn't believe anyone would feel that way about them.

This was the first time you saw them this expressive.

"W-well I..." You looked to the side with a blush, not knowing what to say.

You did find Kris adorable (if a bit creepy at times), you just never thought they'd be into relationships of any sort.

You glanced back at them. They were leaning really close but you still couldn't see their eyes. Their mouth was slightly open like they were about to say something.

This lasted a few seconds with both of you blushing and silent.

Kris was leaning closer and closer very slowly.
