The Confession (Sonadow) (On Pause)

Chapter 3

Shadow's P.O.V

Sonic stayed at my house for the night and made an excuse with Tails. Now I've just woken up and Sonic is pulling me out of bed. "C'mon, Shadow! Up, up, up, up! Lets go!" He sure is excited...

I groan and sit up. "Do you really want to tell everyone about us that badly?" I ask with annoyance, rubbing my eyes to wake myself up. "Of course, Shad! I've been waiting for this!" I sigh and get out of bed, brushing my quills and teeth. I walk downstairs to see Sonic had already made breakfast.

"You didn't have to do this, love." I say, sitting down at the table. "Hey, I woke you up at 7:00 AM just to tell people we're dating. And you don't even like them, so, the least I can do is make you breakfast." He says, kissing me on the cheek. He gives me a stack of pancakes which I eat pretty quickly, since I haven't eaten in a while.

"Thank you, Sonic." I thank him for the food after I finish. "Aw, no problem, Shadz." He gives me a peck on the forehead and puts our plates in the sink. He grabs my hand and drags me out of the house. "I already called everyone to meet up at the loop-de-loop in Green Hill Zone." He explains. "And by 'everyone', who do you mean?" I raise a brow at him wondering who he had invited.

"Oh, y'know, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Rouge, Silver, and Blaze." He invited a lot of people, huh..? "Well, that's a lot of people... are you sure about telling all of them?" I ask, unsure about telling all of them, especially Rose. She'll go ballistic...

Sonic's P.O.V

I can't lie, I am nervous. I'm really nervous, but I'm also excited about coming out to everyone about this secret. I was ready to tell them the minute we started dating, but Shadow told me we should wait. Well, no more waiting! This is happening now. No turning back.

"Yes, Shadow. They're my friends. Trusted friends. People I trust with this information. People I know would never judge us." I reassure him. "To our faces, maybe not, but what if they talk behind our backs?" Shadow, you're not helping with my anxiety here.

"They would never. They're not like that. They wouldn't hurt me like that, and they wouldn't hurt you for being the one I love. If I love you, then they'll have to accept that, otherwise they're not real friends." I grab his hand for emphasis. "They'd never hurt you or me... if they did, they'd regret it." "They wouldn't regret hurting you if they didn't care." "But what if I made them regret it?~" I say with a mischievous tone. Shadow smirks. "I love when you make possible threats, love. They're always a delight to hear." "Even if I never act upon them?" "Even then." Shadow chuckles.

We reach the loop-de-loop and I see everyone there. I gulp, my anxiety overtaking me. What was I thinking? I can't do this. My ears droop. Shadow must've noticed because he grabbed my hand and turned to face me. "Sonic, it will be alright. I promise." His words calm me and I take deep breaths as my ears perk back up.

We walk over to everyone. "So, Sonic, what'd you invite us here for?" Knuckles wonders out loud. "Yeah, what's the announcement, blue?" Rouge asks. "Well, guys... there's no easy way to say this... but I-" I start to explain, but then get cut off by none other than my boyfriend. "Sonic's gay, and we're dating." He says bluntly, leaving everyone speechless as an embarrassed blush grows on my face. "Sh-Shadow, w-why-" "You would've started stalling. I wanted to get it over with." How can he say this like it's not a big deal..?

Tails was the first to speak. "Well, I'm happy for you two! But Shadow, treat him right, please?" "Of course, fox. I wouldn't wrong the one I love, nor would I hurt them." Tails does a single nod of understanding. "Well, I'll respect your relationship since you two are my friends." Silver says supportingly. "I, as well." Blaze says, agreeing with him. 

"Aww, I'm so happy Mr. Grumpy-pants could find someone that makes him happy. I, of course, support you both because you're my friends." Rouge says with a loving tone. Knuckles speaks after her. "I'll support you two, but if Shadow hurts you in any way, Sonic, then-" "I know, big red flag, you hurt him, I gotcha, Knucklehead." I say with a chuckle, feeling less insecure. My blush dies down. I'm kinda worried still, since Amy still hasn't spoken, and she has a blank expression. Chaos, sometimes I wish I could read her mind, so I know how she feels...

I hope she doesn't take this badly, but she's basically obsessed with me, and seeing that I'm not interested in women, and taken, must break her heart. My only hope is that she's supportive, even if she's jealous at first.

Amy takes a deep breath and begins to speak. "Sonic... do you really love him? Is he tricking you? Are you under a spell, saying it out of guilt, or doing it to make me jealous..?" Is she serious right now? "No Amy. I wouldn't hurt Shadow or you like that, and I can assure you, I'm completely in control." You can just look at her and tell that her heart is completely shattered.

Amy is speechless. She makes the 'hmph' and stomps off angrily. Well... that could've gone better. "Love, like you said before, if she's jealous, so what? What's important is that she now knows to respect you and your boundaries. She won't chase you anymore, and she'll have to accept the fact we're dating, whether she likes it or not." Shadow reassures me while giving me a peck on the head. Oh Shadow... what would I do without you?

"Thanks, Shadz." "Of course, my love." "Awww, aren't you two sweet?" Rouge teases. Shadow rolls his eyes, pulling me closer to him and locking our arms. "Shut up, bat." Shadow says, not necessarily in a mean way, but in a demanding way. "Make me, edgy boy.~" As she teases Shadow, he growls. I place my hand on his shoulder, shaking my head, making him stop growling and stand down. "Obedient boyfriend, huh?~" Rouge continues to tease Shadow. "Shut it, Rouge!" He snaps back, making me chuckle.

We ended up explaining how we got together in the first place and how we confessed. There were some laughs in there, some directed towards Shadow, but, surprisingly, he couldn't care less.

It's nice to see Shadow getting along with everyone, and even sharing a few laughs with them. You could see the shock on their faces when they heard Shadow's laugh for the first time. It was priceless! Haha! At the end of the day, we shared our goodbyes and I parted ways with my boyfriend for the night.

I'm so happy that our confession ended well...
