As I stood at the edge of the vast forest clearing, my senses were overwhelmed by the sights and sounds of the unfamiliar Alpha King burial ceremony. The air was thick with an aura of solemnity and reverence, as if the very trees whispered secrets of ancient rituals.

Beside me stood Kaden, my mate and now the heir to the werewolf throne. His presence offered a reassuring anchor amidst the sea of unfamiliar faces, his hand clasping mine tightly, providing both strength and solace. We had traveled from our own pack for a meeting to deliberate on the King's death and the Queen's disappearance but here we are now paying our respects to the fallen werewolf king whose murderer was still unknown , though he was a monarch I had never met but he was one whose legacy loomed large in the hearts of his subjects and Kaden's as well , this king was his uncle after all, and this King reign was a one without war, that was something to really be proud of.

Alpha Samuel and Luna Tamara held a stoic gaze, as Diana held her mother's hand, her eyes wet with unshed tears, her grandfather was dead, I don't know if they were close, but he was family to her, and I knew that she was in pain and it made me want to comfort her but I couldn't at least not now, maybe when this ceremony is done , I will visit her in her suite, but now the comfort of her mate, Alpha Jacob will do.

Oddly, Williams was still not present, I was still thankful that he had not attended the meeting where Kaden had been named the heir to the throne but I had expected him to at least be present for the funeral, it was rather strange that he was not present, but I wasn't complaining either, Williams presence would have surely made me uncomfortable.

Luna Sahara was solemn as well, you could tell that she was trying her possible best to not break down in tears, but thankfully as well she had her mate by her side to comfort her, a younger version of her was also beside her holding hands with a little boy with similar features, they were surely her children.

The royal household including Kaden and I were made to wear white, while the rest were dressed in black as per the traditions.

Despite the sadness in the atmosphere, the burial site was awe-inspiring, a sacred space adorned with intricate symbols and offerings. A towering stone monument, etched with enigmatic markings, stood as a testament to the king's power and stature. The air carried the scent of wildflowers, their delicate petals vibrant against the backdrop of the surrounding forest.

As the ceremony began, the mourners gathered, a diverse gathering of werewolves from various packs. The council men where adorned in silver garments and they stood with a regal air, their presence commanding respect and admiration. They spoke in hushed tones, sharing stories of the fallen king's bravery and wisdom, weaving a tapestry of his legacy that painted a vivid picture in my mind.

The spiritual leader, a figure of immense wisdom and authority, stepped forward, his voice resonating with ancient knowledge. He invoked the spirits of the ancestors, their ethereal presence palpable in the air. The mournful howls of the pack rose in response, a haunting melody that echoed through the clearing.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow across the gathering, the king's body, draped in ceremonial garments, was laid upon the stone monument. His majestic form, even in death, exuded an aura of power and dignity. I felt a shiver run down my spine as I realized the weight of his responsibility and the immense task that awaited Kaden as his rightful heir.
