I awaken with a groan and rub my eyes, getting up with a grunt, I walk out and hum, waving at a couple people. Shane sped up in a jeep.
"Water's here y'all just remember to boil before use." He shouts. I give him a thumbs up and he gives one back.
Carl and Sophia begin screaming and I pull out my knife, running down to help them. I charge in with Rick, Glenn, Shane, and Jim with my knife and lift it over the Geeks head, stabbing them. I run off after that with bloody hands and a bloody knife. I walk around for a bit, waving at people with my bloody hands and the realizing I should probably clean them. I hum and walk down to the lake, cleaning my hands in the river, I walk back to camp and Shane and Rick were beating the shit out of a guy. They let go of him. I kind of distracted myself but heard.
"I'm going back." Rick says.
"So that's it? You're walking off? Saying to hell with everybody?" Shane asked him.
"No I'm not saying to hell with anybody, not you Shane, Lori least of all." Rick replies.
I run off and join the other kids, sitting with them and watching them do there thing as I draw in the dirt with my knife.
"i-I don't want you to go." Carl finally said something other than Dad or Mom.
They completely ignore Carl and Rick decides to go anyway, Carl nods when he's asked and Rick infuriates me.
All the adults spoke for a bit before Rick, Glenn, Daryl, and T-Dog drove away in the big white moving truck. I wait outside Lori and Carl's tent, twiddling my thumbs anxiously while I see them talk. Lori gets out and sees me standing there shyly.
"Need something, Joseph?" She asks.
"Were you or Rick friends with a Brianna or Michael Tars?" I look up at her.
"No, but Carl's best friend was a Joseph.. Tars." She looks at me. "Oh my god, Joseph?" I wave anxiously.
"I... Moved back a couple days before all this happened I.. never got time to stop by and say hello before all the Geeks came."
"Carl!" Lori shouts, come out here. Carl does as told. "Does Joseph look familiar?"
He thinks for a second, thinking, thinking harder, there's the lightbulb. "Joey? I thought you moved away..?""I moved back at least a week ago. Right before the outbreak." I smile at Carl. "Hey Carl." He hugs he lightly before going back over to his Mom.
"How was New York?" Lori asked.
"It was loud, and annoying, and people were mean." I frown, walking alongside Lori and Carl to the lake.
"Did you have fun?" I nod. "Then that's what matters."
"They had this HUUGEEE shopping mall, I'm pretty sure it had a whole playground in it!" I grin.
"That's cool. DALE! You seen Carl?" Lori asked Dale.
"Shane took him down to the quarry, there was some mighty bold talk about catching frogs." Dale says.
Lori looks over the edge and I join her, when she leaves I run down to the quarry panting and gasping. Watching Shane and Carl 'catch frogs'.
"I'm beginning to question the division of labor here." Jacqui says.
"I'll help!" I run over and begin helping them wash clothes. "I don't have any chores, so.."
"Alright kid, you can help." Amy says, smiling. I being washing the clothes and watching Carl and Shane.
"Can someone explain to me how the women wound up doing all the Hattie McDaniel work?" Jacqui asks.
