Smells are not something that everyone can smell. A pack has to be made before smells can be smelt.
Betas go through a heat type ordeal where they go into a severe needy state where they need their pack. If they are with their chosen mate, it can be sexual.
Mates are not automatic things that can be formed. The relationship has to be built and trust formed.
Packs are made by sharing the oils of the gland they have on their wrist that is meant for making these packs. They can not be marked by a mate. Only the glands on their neck can be used for mating.
The only time every can smell someone's scent is when they are in heat/rut or when the person is active; like working out, for example. Basically, they have to sweat a lot.
The only people that someone can naturally smell are their family; parents, siblings, etc.
Courting is what an alpha does to attract someone they like to have as a mate.
Once a mated pair, other's ruts and heats don't affect them anymore.
Imprinting - when an omega side of the person will choose an alpha to mate with. The two people may not necessarily be together at the moment, but the omega will not choose anyone else to mate with. It is an old-fashioned way that doesn't happen often. A rare effect.
Staking a claim - although it's similar to an omega imprinting but it also very different. Staking a claim is a common thing with Alphas and its when the alpha chooses a mate.

Alphs's eyes will turn gold when they feel a strong emotion
When an alpha and omega mate they become in kind of like a limbo state. Their instincts very heavily still taken over them. While in this state, it is hard for them to have full sentence conversion. They usually will speak anywhere between 1 to 3 word phrases. Though it doesn't work the same way with Betas dure to them being the more human side of a/b/o. Can last anywhere between 3 to 5 days before they are able to fully come back to their senses.
While in the limbo state, the alpha's instinct is to care and protect the omega.
