James watched Sirius leave and was tempted to follow him until he saw the girl that pulled him away glaring daggers at his group. Simultaneously, Lily, Marlene and 3 other girls following them walked into the Great Hall and sat down next to them.

"Lily, Marlene," James acknowledged. "How lovely to see you this fine morning."

Lily and Marlene rolled their eyes at him and continued in conversation with their fellow dorm members. At that moment Severus walked into the Hall and Lily non-verbally invited him to sit with her. He rudely ignored her invite and sat next some kids name Maverick Mulciber and the Avery twins that Lily remembered from the sorting the night before.

"Lil's," Marlene snapped Lily out of her thoughts. "Isn"t he you're friend?"

"Yeah, maybe he's just tired. He never sleeps well in a new bed."

"Alright," she said unvelievingly.

It was another half hour before the students first class of the year, or in the first years case, at all.

"What do we have as our first class again?" Marlene whined.

"Transfiguration with McGonagall."

(A/n fr I wish I could end the chapter but I would never do that to you.)

---------------------------------------

The last few minutes until the first classes started flew passed everyone and most people were shocked when the loud bell started playing an ungodly tune. If you were at Hogwarts, you'd see why they needed an on-campus hospital, everybody was always falling over, getting themselves hurt. Not to mention how dangerous the classes can be. 7-5th years were practically running to their classes. First years and more than not of the second years had their faces in a map. And it seemed that the 3rd and 4th years took pride in tripping everyone that came close as they took their time. That was mainly pureblood Slytherins.

Hello first years. Welcome to you very first Transfiguration class-. Hello?" McGonagall heard multiple people wheezing outside of the door.

As the door was pushed open the whole class of Gryffindors and Slytherins could see Potter and Black struggling to breathe with their hands on their knees after running up multiple flights of stairs and getting lost many times along their way to finding the classroom.

"Sorry." Gasp. "That." Gasp. "We're." Gasp. "Late," James apologized.

"Very well. As it's your first class, I'll let you off with a warning," said McGonagall. "Don't make the same mistake again. Go on then! Take your seats!"

She gestured to a 6-seating table which had Lily, Marlene, Emmeline Vance and the other one uhh, Mary was her name. Alice Fortescue was sitting with Frank, from his dorm. Lupin and Pettigrew were sitting with him but there was no room left to sit.

The first lesson was an introduction to the subject, all the safety precautions. Basically things only people who hadn't been part of the magical world for long cared about. Well, really only Evans was truly paying full attention, even her roommate, MacDonald, was free and happy to zone out.

With twenty-five minutes left to the lesson, McGonagall handed everybody a worksheet on parchment with everything that she had gone over that morning.

Sirius and James had been helping each other the entire time and the girls next to them scoffed way too much at them to not be wrong at almost every answer.

-------------------------------------

The rest of the sessions the first year Gryffindors had that day were Charms with the Ravenclaws, Defense against the dark arts with Slytherins, Herbology with Hufflepuff house, Potions with Ravenclaw and Flying with Hufflepuff's.
Everyone was exhausted by the end of the day and trudged back to the dorms in herds of hundreds. Not caring about the secrecy of the houses placement. At all.
Instead of following the Gryffindors back to Gryffindor tower, Lily found herself trying to find Severus as they hadn't been able to talk during their combined lessons.

"Severus!"

He probably didn't hear her.

"Sev, hi!"

She said, practically right into his ear. Yeah, he was ignoring her.

"Lily. Hello. Can't talk right now. I made friends with these guys but I think they wouldn't talk to me if I was friends with you," he excused.

"Screw them! I knew you first! Please Severus, just talk to me."

"I'll see you later, Evans."

She stopped trailing after him.

"See you tomorrow then."

A/n not me realising I haven't posted a chapter in weeks. So sorryyyyyy!!!!! I've spent all my writing friends being busy. I went to a concert with my only friend who doesn't stress me out. Bc the others r great but one rants all the time and I love him but it hurts my head and the other is emotionally unstable and can't handle my confusing personality so I stress about her alotttttt!!!! Also I've got a huge dance competition coming up and we've been raising money. I don't really wanna go bc I'm literally scared of most of the people in my team/the senior team of my studio but yeah. I've been super stressed. Again I'm sooooooo sorry. Also I promise I'll develop an actual plot soon I just needed to get this kinda stuff out. I'll skip to like 3 weeks before the end of term in the next chapter tho...
