Shit shit shit. No no no. Not Grimmauld place. How can I go back there after the last year?

Sirius' breathing quickened immensely as the Hogwarts Express slowed to a stop. He had to go home. Despite assuming the life he knew at home was at least semi-normal, nobody at Hogwarts had treated him that horribly. It would feel the bad kind of weird to go home. Bright side. He'd get to see Reggie. His sweet, adorable, perfect little brother.

"You coming mate?" James asked him as he was stepping out of the carriage.

"Yeah, I'll be a minute," he replied.

"K, see you next year. Remember to owl me."

Sirius laughed akwardly. "Yeah mate, I'll try."

James nodded at him and left to find his own parents. Peter and Remus had stepped away earlier.

Finally, Sirius collected his trunk and set off to find his parents. Who didn't even bother coming to the train station and instead sent their house-elf kreacher to apparate him home. As soon as he whirled in the door-.

"Really, Sirius? Gryffindor?" His aunt Druella greeted him at the door.

"I'm sorry Auntie D-d-druella!"

"Don't complain child. After twelve years on this planet you still can't say my name. Sometimes I don't know how the hell my sister in law gave birth to a cretin like you. I'd rather spend time with that damned house elf. He is better company that you."

"I'm really really sorry Auntie!" He called out as she gracefully left the entrance manor.

"Sirius!" He heard a child-like voice scream from behind him. He looked around, as if he didn't know exactly where his little brother had called his name from. He turned around and looked at him.

"Regulus!" He said with the same enthusiasm. "How are you, little Reggie?"

"I'm good. How was Hogwarts? Was it everything we ever thought it was? I'm so excited for next year. We're gonna be in Slytherin together next year and I'm gonna be eleven soon and we're gonna have fun  all. the. time."

"Reggie ,uhh I didn't get into Slytherin."

"What?"

"I got into Gryffindor" God he was so ashamed of himself now. He'd spent all year, happy in the hour of the brave that he forgot all about how it would affect his little brother.

"Then I'll get into Gryffindor too, and we can hang out with your new friends all the time."

"Regulus, I think it's a really bad idea for you to go for Gryffindor."

"Why?"

"Because of Mother and Father."

"Oh."

"I'll still hang out with you though. All the time!"

"Okay,"

The two brothers sat in a comfortable silence for half an hour, reading different fairytales by The Grimm Brothers and Quidditch Through the Ages. A personal favourite of Sirius'.

"Hey Siri!" Regulus broke the quiet if the house.

"Yeah?"

"Guess what!"

"What?"

"No," Regulus whined. "You have to guess!"

"I don't know, though Regulus. I'm not a mind reader."

"You could be, if you practiced hard enough."

"Shut up." Sirius lightly shoved his younger brother. Regulus shoved him back until it turned into a full on fight untill they nearly died from laughter. But soon they realised that they'd being dying for another reason as Walburga and Orion Black both walked into the drawing room.

The two boys conformed to a line and brushes themselves off.

"Mother! Father! Lovely to see you again." Sirius soft voice squeaked.

"Don't even, Sirius Orion Black. Regulus, go to your room. You don't need to be here for this conversation."

Regulus looked worriedly at his brother, who nodded at him, and left up the grand staircase.

"Do you want to explain why at the start of the year that silly little half-blood teacher of yours sent us a letter at the start of the school year saying that you were a pleasure to have in her house? That she was excited for you to experience your wizarding journey under her watch? That bitch Minerva is not the head of the Slytherin house." Walburga said.

"Well, mother-" Sirius tried to explain.

"Actually, I don't even want to hear it. Lacio!"

She repeated the curse again and again until her son had more cuts than actual skin and when she needed one final outburst.

"Crucio!"

He shuddered uncontrollably on the floor beneath her.

"You disgusting child, you're almost worse than your blood-traitor Uncle Alphard."

"Alphard isn't a blood-traitor! He's just gay, mother!" Sirius retaliated.

"That's almost worse!"

The two of them continued back and forth for another half hour, their voices increasingly getting louder and louder. Even Regulus could hear them from three floors up and down an entire hallway.

When the family came down for dinner that night, Sirius never arrived; The evening was silent other than the intensely irritating scraping of cutlery on each plate. Regulus was the last to finish his meal, despite not even eating half of it. He placed his knife and fork together on the plate, got out of his seat and entered his brother's room out of sight from his parents, like the many times he had done after they stopped sharing one.

"Are you okay Siri?" Regulus asked.

"I'm fine Reggie. I promise." Sirius said.

"But you said that fine never meant fine."

"Yeah, but this time it means I'm ok, ok?"

"Fine! I'm going to bed, I'll see you in the morning Siri."

"Goodnight, Regulus."

Regulus waved goodbye as he closed the doors, shuffling his feet as he wanders to his room across the hall. At least my birthday is in a couple day, then he can't ignore me. He thought.
