The night of September 1st in the marauders dorm was the most chaotic night of the ages. Even though they had not started calling themselves marauders yet. Peter snuck into the party the older kids were having and hadn't been kicked out yet, thankfully, and everyone else was getting ready for bed. Remus read peacefully but his face was growing redder by the second and he kept glancing up to make sure no one was close enough to read over his shoulder. Sirius was silently staring at him as he put on the boring, green, pajamas his stupid, supremacist parents bought him, and James bounded out of the bathroom with a toothbrush in his mouth as he made his bed, and got his wand, a few bits of clothing and his leather satchel, putting them where they had stationed last year. As James wandered back into the bathroom Sirius became a ball of a human in his bed, rocking back and forth.

"What if somebody hurts Regulus in Slytherin Remus?" He asked. "He's only 11 and he can't handle himself and because of me people might be mean to him." He kept muttering his worries to himself until Remus slowly edged towards him and wrapped his awkwardly long arms around Sirius.

"He's going to be okay Sirius. He's stronger than you think he is. I promise. You'll be able to talk to him almost anytime. Ask him how he's going tomorrow." Remus assured.

"I know," he pouted, "but his only protection is Severus! He's kinda weak with his magic no matter how hard he tries, and the potions he makes take weeks most of the time. Or months!"

"Sirius why don't we try to sleep off the worry and just talk to Remus' voice was calm and demanding, making Sirius feel safe. It helped that Remus' arms felt warm and stabilising around Sirius. He sat beside him until he was asleep despite shaking music. A few moments later a sulking Peter trudged into the room.

"You knew they were gonna figure you out eventually." Remus said

"Yeah, but they didn't know I would steal some of their alcohol!" Peter practically sung. He pulled the bottle of rum out of his cloak and banged it down onto his bedside table.

"Shut it Pete. I'm trying to convince Sirius to get some sleep." He insisted.

"Looks like you've already succeeded." He waved his hand in Remus' direction.

Remus looked down into his arms where Sirius head lay in the middle of his lap. Remus carefully pushed himself out from beneath him and Sirius' head flopped into the pillow with a slight thud. He blushed and made his way back to his bed. "You aren't even 12 yet. You should go put the alcohol back." He enforced.

"Well too bad. If you have a problem you can take it up with my parents."

"Yout parents let you drink?!" He shouted. "What the-." His eyes flickered over to Sirius, who was thankfully still deep in his slumber despite the worried yelling Remus had inflicted on Peter.

Peter laughed and both he and Remus got ready for bed. A bookmark in Remus' book and the lights darkened as the three of them joined Sirius in his sleeping, taking their chance as the music had, at least temporarily, stopped.

The next morning was filled with tired, cranky 1st-3rd years from Gryffindor and extremely hungover, tired and cranky 4th-7th years from every house in school. Classes weren't starting until Monday next week and today it was Thursday. Regulus dragged himself from bed silently, terrified to wake his new roommates: Barty and Evan, with whom he was and some twin brothers
Travers. He forgot their first names within minutes of meeting them but they mostly kept to themselves.

Regulus took a book from his trunk and dragged himself down to the Great Hall; though he did nearly get lost until a couple Prefects pointed him in the correct direction. Multiple times.

He saw James sitting there by himself who was already looking back at him. James smiled widely at Reg and waved him over.

"Hi Regulus! What book you got there?"

"Hello. Uhh it's The Tale of Three Brothers by Beetle and the Bard."

"Read it to me?"

Regulus have him a questioning look. "It's a children's tale. Surely you can read it yourself?"

"Yeah, but I want you to read it to me."

Regulus giggled and rolled his eyes. Just barely could you see the muscles in his face relax for a second, and his back curl over as he hid the momentary smile on his face. But James noticed, and he was happy with that. Regulus flipped a couple pages back to the first and started the story from the start.

"There were once three brothers who were travelling along a lonely, winding road at twilight..."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As Regulus closed the book after finishing Sirius, Remus and Peter were joining them at the table. He set it down on the table in front of him and began serving a small plate of food for himself.

"Hey Reg, how was your first night? Who are your roommates? Was anyone mean to you? I'll beat them up I swear." Sirius threatened.

Remus cut in. "Calm down, Siri."

"It was fine Sirius. My roommates are Barty and Evan, and the Travers twins. They're close with the Malfoy's and Yaxley's. I'm certain they have a sister in your year too, if I remember correctly."

"They do!" James perked his head up. "I think her name is Rosaline? Or maybe Roberta? I know it starts with an R."

"Thank you Potter." The group laughed. "What?"

"You're just so formal. No offence." Peter responded.

"None taken."

Regulus gotnup from the table to leave, planning on exploring the grounds but-

"Regulus where are you going?" James called out before he could leave verbal range. Sirius looked at him confused before shaking it off.

"To learn my way around?" He took a couple of steps back towards the group.

"Oh! Let me show you around. I'll give you the Unofficial Hogwarts Tour, featuring every known AND secret place, inside and outside of the school. Only if you want, of course."

James' friends looked confused with his hyper attitude towards helping Regulus. Something was up with him and everyone, especially Sirius, was determined to figure out what it was.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Do you have your map, that the school gives you?"

"Yes?"

"You mind if I.. draw a couple additions on it?"

Regulus handed it over, waiting patiently but excited to see what James was going to add.

"Wow, this is amazing detail. Where did you learn to draw like this?"

"I'm just, what did you say? Amazing."

Regulus glared at him.

"Joking!" He laughed when Regulus tried and missed slapping him on the shoulder. "Cmon, this is the library!" He turned in and rushed through the shelves, Regulus barely able to keep up.

"Potter. What are you doing?"
