Summer has now turned into fall. It is now October. At the end of the month, will be our third wedding anniversary. I still cannot believe I have been married to Greg for three years. We have been together for ten years. I cannot believe it has been that long.
It is our third anniversary today. We exchanged cards to one another. We also received letters from our friends wishing us a happy anniversary. There was an invitation tucked into Dario's letter. Dario and Ashley were inviting us to come to Tennessee to visit. We decided to write them to tell them that we would be coming for Christmas then we mailed the letter.
The next morning we decided that we get our tickets to Toronto because that is the only train station that has trips to Nashville, Tennessee. After getting the tickets to Toronto, we ordered our tickets to Nashville. It would be nice to have a change in scenery, also to give Dario a break after a long racing season. We are going to the United States, so we have to have proof that we are living in Canada. We do not want the United States officials thinking that we are going to be settling in the country. We plan only to be in Nashville for two weeks.
It seems not a long time, but it is as long as we can handle. For Greg, being in an unfamiliar place confuses him. It still affects him even though it has been many years since he sustained his brain injury. Even for myself, i cannot be in an unfamiliar place for a long time either.
We are getting our citizenship documents in order. We need them all ready in time for our trip. We leave for Toronto the first of December, which is only two weeks away. We need to organize what we are taking, also the important documents.
A few days later, i was thinking what to give Dario and Ashley as a thank you for having us over. I was thinking something that is truly Canadian and truly from British Columbia. I asked Greg to give me any ideas. All he could think of was a postcard with the Rocky Mountains on it. I thought that was a very simple and meaningful thank you gift. So, i walked over to the corner store where there are postcards. I picked one up.
With a few days until we leave for Toronto, I make sure our suitcases are packed and we have all the important documents. We plan to stay in Toronto for a few days before we leave for Nashville. Both Greg and i cannot travel long distances in one shot. All we can handle is from Vancouver to Toronto and back. It takes two days to get to Toronto from Vancouver. It will take us another day to get to Nashville if we went all the way, that would be tiring.. .We leave for Toronto in the morning. Ric kindly offered to drive us to the train station.
This morning we leave for Toronto. We take our familiar route to Toronto, the only familiar thing except for our friends, of course. We make the final check of our belongings and papers before Ric arrives to bring us to the train station. While double checking our things, we heard a knock on the door. It is Ric. We get into the car to the train station. Once at the train station, Ric wishes us a great trip, also that he will be there to pick us up when we return. We thanked him then he left. We are now waiting for the train to arrive.
