It has been a few weeks since I wrote a letter to Dario. Just yesterday when I checked the mail, I noticed a letter addressed to me. It was from Dario. Once I got home, I opened Dario's letter. In the envelope, there were two letters. There was a letter to me. There was another letter enclosed to Greg. I gave the letter to him and he walked away into our room to read it privately. The letter to me from Dario was a thank you letter. He thanked me for the update on our lives and our new helper..He also said that he was looking forward to meeting Ryliegh at the race in the summer.
After a few moments, Greg came out from our room. He told me that he wanted to share with me that Dario found Greg's long lost friend Max Papis. Greg told me that he met Max before the war while he was racing. He also told me that he had a story to tell me that I have not heard yet. I told him that he could tell me his story. He started by saying that he met Max while racing in the United States. He continued by telling me that he remembers making a bet with Max during a race in a place called Milwaukee. As he continued to tell the story, Greg started to crack up. I asked him what was so funny. He told me that he was just remembering something funny. After that, he continued his story. He told me that the night before the race he was in the paddock in his motorhome making macaroni and cheese for dinner. He said that when he was starting with the pasta, Max came in to ask him what he was making. Max told Greg that if Greg won the race that was happening the next day that Max would eat macaroni and cheese for the next three race weekends. Greg told me that Max did lose the bet because Greg won the race.. he finished the story by telling me that when Max joined him in victory circle, all Max said was Macaroni and cheese and Greg replied by saying "Macaroni and cheese dude!"
After Greg told me the story, I told him that we should try to find Max. Greg told me that in Dario's letter to him, Dario said that he races with Max and will be in the race in Vancouverin the summer. Greg was excited to hear that. He could not wait to see his friend again. It has been such a long time since he met Max. Greg hoped that Max would still remember him. Greg wanted to know for sure. He asked me to write Dario back for Greg to ask if Max remembers him and wants to know if Max ever wondered if he would see Greg again. I told Greg that I would gladly do it for him. Greg hugged me and thanked me. I told him that there was no need to thank me considering I am his wife and I will do anything for him.
Now I have to write another letter to Dario. This time it will be to ask Dario to ask Max if Max remembers Greg. I also thanked Dario for the letter. I also asked him to reply to the letter if he found out the information that Greg was seeking. I told Dario that Greg would appreciate what Dario was doing for him. After writing the letter, I went to the mailbox to mail it. After mailing the letter, it is just awaiting game to see what Dario says.
A few days have passed since mailing the letter. I went to the mailbox as usual, but there was no mail from Dario. I will check in a few more days. The letter has to go to the United States after all. It will take longer to get there. Another few days have passed and still nothing well, I guess I am sort of rushing Dario to respond because I want to know as much as Greg does about Max. I guess patience will pay off in the long run.
A few weeks have paseed . I have not had a thought about Dario's letter until now. As I checked the mail today, I noticed there was a letter from Dario. I was so happy. I walked rapidly home because I wanted Greg to open it. The letter was adressed to Greg not me, so I could not open it. Once I got home, Greg asked me if anything was for him. I told him yes and gave him the letter from Dario. After Greg read the letter from Dario, he told me that what Dario said about the information on Max Papis. The letter answered the questions about if Max remembers Greg and so on.
A few days later, Greg asked me to write a letter to Max. I told him that I would be glad to. Greg gave me the letter Dario wrote because Dario included Max's address, so Greg could contact Max. I asked Greg to sit with me while I write the letter because I wanted him to tell me what to write in Max's letter. I also told him that he knew Max best. The last thing I told Greg before writing the letter was that to tell Max about our life a bit, but most of the content of the letter should be memories of Max and him. The final part of the letter should be our contact information, so Max can write back.
Once I was done telling Greg this, I started writing the letter while Greg spoke to me. It took about 30 minutes to finish the letter. Once finished writing the letter, I asked Greg if there was anything else that he wanted to add before signing the letter off and putting a stamp on it. Greg told me that there was nothing else to add. I told him to sign the it, so I could stamp it.
After he signed the letter, I put the letter in an envelope. I told Greg that I will mail it in the morning.
The next morning, I mailed the letter. Once I got home, I told Greg that a response may take up to two weeks because the letter needs to get to Max. Max needs to time to respond to the letter. Greg told me that he knew that and will try to be patient for the returning letter.
