Greg and Allissa continued to attend the Vancouver Indy for many years until all their friends retired from the sport. Also age was catching up with them and they could not walk around the paddock anymore. They still enjoyed watching the race at home. All of Greg's racing friends would visit as much as they could.
Once their nephew Louis was a teenager, Greg shared what happened to him during the Second World War and his racing career previous to that. They would also take him to visit the BC Sports Hall of Fame and Museum to see Greg's gallery.
They also established a camp for teenagers and young adults with mental and physical challenges. They also eventually adopt two children with mild challenges. For many years, they put smiles on many campers' faces.
Their children grew up and both became prominent advocates for the disability community and veterans.
Sadly on their fiftieth wedding anniversary, both passed peacefully in their sleep at the ages of 83 and 78.
