Summer has ended and the brilliant colours of fall are starting to appear. It has been months since Greg received the telephone call from the BC Sports Hall of Fame and Museum about his induction and the planned gallery. Greg is eager to receive the telephone call about the information about the induction ceremony. I am constantly telling Greg to stay calm and patient because the telepone call will come eventually. He replies to me by saying that he knows, but it is still very hard to be patient and wait for the telephone call when he wants it so badly. All I tell him to do is try and that is all I ask of him to do. He tells me he knows and is trying his best, but it is hard to do. Still no telephone call, Greg is trying to stay patient, but he is becoming antsy about it.
The last few leaves have fallen off the trees. Winter is on our door step. I tell Greg to think positively. I also tell him that the telephone call that he desperately wants will probably happen in the spring because special events that change your life often happen in the springtime like a new life of the first flowers of spring. Greg agreed with me and told me that he will try to get through this winter without thinking about when the telephone call about the induction ceremony would happen. I just hoped that this winter is not long and cold. I do not want Greg to get cabin fever and start thinking about the telephone call. I need to destract him somehow to get his mind from the telephone. I have no idea what to do. I think I will have to call Ric to help me with this challenge.
When Greg is really eager about something, it is difficult for his mind to function and think of other things that he has to do like his morning routine with Ryliegh. Greg seems so preoccupied these days that he forgets to feed Ryliegh in the morning that Ryliegh constantly meows at him to fill his bowl of food. Please spring come soon, so Greg can go back to his normal self. I like seeing him so happy for something, but it is making him forgetful of every day tasks that he is so keen on remembering to do.
Finally the winter has melted into spring. I hope the telephone call comes soonbecause Greg is getting more eager now that it is springtime now.
A few days before Greg's birthday, he receives the telephone call he has been waiting for the last few months. The man who called him was the same man that contacted him initially about the induction and the gallery. The man informed Greg about the progress of the construction of the gallery. He also told Greg the most important piece of information that Greg had been waiting for since the intial telephone call months earlier. The date of the induction ceremony is going to be on May 1. the man on the other line informed Greg that he was allowed to invite up to three guests to join him on this special day. Greg thanked the man and hung up the telephone. Greg had a huge smile on his face and the look of relief on his face that now that is confirmed and now it is one, he can go back to his regular routine. That made me happy as well.
He wanted to call his parents to let them know about the induction ceremony and that they were invited. He told me that this is one of the most special moments in his life that he wanted to share it with his parents and me as well. While he was on the telephone with his parents, I could hear how happy Ric was to hear that he and his wife were invited to such a special event in Greg's life.
Once Greg ended the telephone call with his parents, i told him that the ceremony was less than two weeks away. I told him that we needed to buy some special clothes for this occasion. I told him that I did not think that his Air Force uniform would fit him any more because it has been almost thirteen years since he wore it last which was our wedding day. I think it is time to buy a suit and tie for him to wear at the ceremony. I need a new dress myself because as the same with Greg, the last time I had to dress up nice was our wedding day. I guess I will find a dress first then find Greg a tie that matches the colour of the dress I buy.
I decided to I would call Ric about driving us to the store to get the special clothes for the ceremony. I asked that Donna come with me to help pick out a dress. I asked Ric to help Greg find a suit. I even asked what day was good for them for this trip. We confirmed a day and time that they would help Greg and I find the perfect clothes for the induction ceremony on May 1. I informed Greg what I did. He thought it was a good idea to have his parents help us with our outfits for that special night coming up.
