"Okay. I called the courthouse this morning, they have everything we need there. Then the dress took two hours to find, cake is a no because you made the poor baker shit his pants-" Caroline bumped into Spy as he stopped walking to say, "If he could not even tell the difference between Pâte viennoise and Pâte feuilletée, then he has no right calling himself a pastry chef!", "Noted, but at least when you did the same thing with the florist they gave us the bouquet for free, so I think that just about covers everything.", "What about the rings?", "We don't have time, it's already 14:05 and I still need to get ready!" The two of them got into Spy's Bizzarrini and raced back to her apartment. She took a quick shower before sitting in front of her vanity to let Spy do her hair. As he used the blow-dryer, she got the sinking feeling that they may have rushed into this. She hadn't really thought about how she wanted her wedding to look like, but in all the circulars she read it always seemed so picturesque. As Spy put down the hair-dryer and picked up a brush, Caroline asked, "Do you- Do you think we should've just waited?" Spy shrugged, "What do you think?" Caroline shrugged, "I don't know... I think-" She really thought about it. They didn't have rings, or a cake, or any family attending, and they were getting wed at the courthouse. Besides the dress, she couldn't think of one traditional thing about it, but then again...Did it matter? She did have a ring, they weren't big on cake, and she didn't have any family left. Yeah, it would have been nice to have Mick's parents here, but... Caroline looked at her reflection and watched as Spy deliberately made up her hair. Spy didn't have to be doing this. He didn't have to do any of this, and even though she suspected he was just making up for yesterday's disaster, she really appreciated that he was trying his best to make it special for her. It was almost like having a father again... So what if her wedding didn't look like everyone else's? It didn't really matter if she ended up with Mick in the end, right? "...I think- this is crazy... And- I think I don't care. I really love him and I wouldn't care if we got married on the bottom of the ocean floor if it meant I got to spend the rest of my life with him." Spy smiled to himself and put down the brush, "Well then, my dear, I think it's time to get the two of you married." At that, it suddenly hit her all at once. She was getting married ... To the love of her life . Her stomach filled with butterflies and she froze. She might have been fine getting married on the ocean floor, but was Mick? What did he feel? What if he was hoping for something more? What if he was utterly disappointed in all this?... What if he was utterly disappointed in her? Before she could spiral more, Spy leaned down next to her and whispered, "Come on. You're ready." He offered her a hand and even though she was nervous, she took it and let him guide her out of the chair. Then, he faced her, "I think it would be wise to drive yourself this time. I would rather not be a chauffeur for you and your husband on your wedding night..." Husband! Those butterflies sang as they stirred around, but externally Caroline just took a breath and nodded, "Yeah, good point. Well, I guess I'll meet you over there then?" He nodded, then leaned down and kissed both her cheeks, "À bientôt..." He opened the front door, but right before he left she called to him, "And Spy? Thank you." He looked at her over his shoulder and said simply, "You're welcome." Before stepping out onto the mezzanine.
