It was still dark when Caroline woke up. She yawned and stretched and started getting herself ready for the day. After she put on a pot of coffee, Caroline grabbed her planner only for the little business card to follow. She looked at the thing and pondered it. It might have been a bit early, but fuck it. Caroline dialed up the number and listened to the line ring, not really expecting anyone to answer, but then someone did, "Who is this?", "Oh! Uh- This is Caroline Sweeney- I mean Mundy... A Miss Pauling told me you had a position available, is this a bad time?" Whoever was on the other side was quite for a long moment, then she spoke, "I do have a position for you... You can run the accounts for Mann Co. Goodby-", "Oh... Well, I'd have to decline that one.", "...What?" Caroline sat down on the couch, running the phone cord through her fingers, "Well, I've done books for businesses run by Mann Co. and every single one of them was a complete mess . I'm not really interested in running books for them anymore." The woman on the other side was quiet for another moment, then said, "Alright, you can run the accounts for me then. Is that to your liking?" Caroline furrowed her brow, "What would I be doing?" The woman sighed, "Didn't Miss Pauling give you the details?", "Yes, but-", "Then you're interested?", "Yes-", "Fantastic. You're hired. Report in tomorrow morning, Miss Pauling will escort you.", "Wait, what-?", "And by the way, Mrs. Sweeney, I would prefer if you didn't call me at three o'clock in the morning..." and then she hung up. Caroline looked up at the clock and it was indeed three in the morning, "Aw, fuck...", "What's wrong, love?" Mick rubbed the sleep out of his eyes as he joined Caroline on the couch. She put the phone back and sighed, "I just called your boss, and she gave me the job..." He nodded, "...And that's good, right?", "Right.", "So why do you look so sad?" He picked up her hand and she felt his warmth, "I'm not sad... It was just- I don't know, it was weird.", "You talked to the old woman?" Caroline shrugged, "Probably." Mick nodded, knowingly, "Yeah, she's pretty weird." Caroline cracked a smile, "Well, I guess it also could have been because it's three in the morning." Mick paused and looked at the clock, "Ooh, you might be right.", "AAAAAH!" Caroline lamented, hiding her face in her hands, "What a way to introduce myself!", "Hey! You got the job, didn't you?", "Yeah, but now she probably thinks I'm a lunatic!" Mick placed a hand on her face, "Love. She don't think you're a lune..."
