16. Claws

A few hours later Mary walks me out with her arms around me. "You feel good about all the changes little miss?"

"I do. I feel like I'll have more control over my own life this way. I'll be able to do what I want. I won't have to worry about what's on some stupid contract. I mean honestly, I don't know which one of them will be my mate. But I can't be sure. If it's not, then Tre will step in. I still believe he would make a good king."

She smiles at me. "He will miss."

I nod. "He's a good choice, I mean they would both be a good choice. They are all strong and smart. But I chose him and I'm staying with that."

"You made a good decision with that."

"What about the medical part? Did I do good with that?"

"I think so. Like you said, your mate will probably be one of them and they love you already. I don't believe they would hurt you ever. They just want what's best for you. All of them being able to talk to the doctors about you will be good. The dancing part made me laugh though. I don't know if anyone will agree to that." She starts laughing again.

"What? I like to dance and I want to dance with whoever I want. At balls or anything. I mean, I'll still sit by Tre but I don't want to ask his permission for anything. I'm still my own person. I hate the idea of asking permission for anything. I'm going to be a queen someday. I should be able to dance at least."

Dipak yells. "Princess." He walks out of his office looking at us. "You ok? You were really upset."

I smile at him. "Yes I am." I grab Mary's hand. "I think I made good changes to it."

"You want to have lunch with me?" He looks worried.

I look up and the guards are walking up to us. "Advisor Dipak you are being summoned to an emergency advisor meeting."

"Why I'm not on that contract?"

We watch at the guards pull Tre and Gunner as well. They all just look at each other confused.

Frode walks down the hall towards us all. "Princess Nadine, you will be summoned in about an hour. This is probably going to take some negotiating." He looks around at the 3 of them. "But I think we can all come to some new agreements."

Mary starts laughing. "Even with the dancing sir?"

Frode starts laughing then. "I definitely didn't expect that one. The Princess is full of surprises though. She really keeps me on my toes." He shakes his head. "Ok let's go."

I look at Mary. "Let's go to the market and eat."

After an hour we come back and I get summoned the second I walk in the door.

The guards open the door for us and me and Mary walk in and sit down at my end of the table.

"Daddy, Advisors." They all just stare at me. "Hello?"

"My princess." Daddy remembered how to talk. "That was different."

I smile at him.

Tre looks at me. "You do realize that in the public eye, you will still belong to me? I figured you would change that."

I take a deep breath. "More than likely, one of you are my soul mate. I don't know which. But there is still a chance it won't be either. You are both a good choice for a king. I would be happy mated to either of you... I really don't remember where I was going with this." I put my elbow on the table and rub my eyes.

Everyone starts to laugh.

Tre looks at me again. "Public eye princess."

"Well, someone has to stand with me at public events, and you are on paper as the chosen already... But, if you don't want to, then pick someone else for that job."
