Evanora's P.o.v:
My eyes stay pinned to the demon army which sets up a war camp beneath our castle as I use my magic to keep myself warm. All I'm wearing is a thin dress, a material which allows my forms to show themselves shyly from underneath. However, the sun's absence makes it hard to not tremble since the temperature dropped considerably. Turning around, I notice Kyong Su in the distance. I chuckle as my eyes find his, but he looks away immediately. Lifting my dress, I walk towards him slowly, my cheeks heating up with every step that I take closer to him. Is he the real reason why I feel flustered right now? Or is it just the fact that the dress doesn't cover a lot which makes me feel this way?
Kyong Su: *he clears his throat and steals a glance of my body* This dress looks good on you.
Evanora: *I chuckle and my fingertips trace over the transparent material that is wrapped around my breasts* You think so?
Kyong Su: *he looks at me briefly, but his gaze floats away again* Yeah.Taking a step closer to him, I lift my hand and press my palm against his cheek. As expected, it's burning. Just like mine. I bite my lower lip.
Evanora: This dress... I made it for him. *I say as I look towards the place where Tae San waters the Amaryllis* But he never noticed.
Kyong Su: *his stare finally persists into my eyes* I did. *he clears his throat and jerks his face* I do. It's nice.Biting my lower lip again, I turn around. Maybe there is no need to stress him out. No need to give him fake signs. Everything that is going on between us is intentional. And my intention clearly isn't to give him false hope. There is something between us. But maybe none of us is brave enough to admit it.
Evanora: *I stop three steps away from him and look over my shoulder* Thank you. *I sigh* Maybe, after all, it wasn't made for his eyes.
As soon as the last word leaves my mouth, Tae San steps out of the throne room, joining us on the balcony. And my feet suddenly take me towards him. Without my consent, they make me approach the man who calls my name using half of his heart.
Tae San: Eva.
He says as he reaches his hand forward. However, something about my name on his lips makes me feel a bit uncomfortable. I don't know why,
Tae San: You should join me for a walk. *he looks me up and down* And change that dress, will you? My subjects shouldn't see you like this.
Nodding, I bow before him and, within a split breath, I change the transparent material into a light blue one. Just as simple, but opaque. Plain. Unentertaining.
Tae San: *he smiles* Better.
He mumbles and I take his hand, feeling an energy pushing me to the side. However, I try to resist. Clenching my jaw, I walk beside him, despite the pain that spreads through my chest. Step after step, the pain grows in intensity and I only clench my jaw harder, until I can't take it anymore. Inhaling one sharp breath, I step aside and let him continue the walk by himself as soon as the pain becomes suffocating. He doesn't look back. He keeps on walking. He doesn't care. He doesn't even feel the floor shaking when my body hits it. Because the pain is unbearable. And I drop to my knees. A layer of fire burns my skin and I struggle to stand up, gripping my throat and gasping for air. Someone calls my name, but my vision is too blurry and my ears are ringing too loud for me to see or hear the person who helps me stand up.
It takes me five deep breaths to chase the pain away and I hold onto the hand of that someone the way a sailor holds onto his lifeline when his boat is swallowed by an angry storm. The pain calms down eventually and I find myself inside the throne room, guided by Kyong Su, who still holds my hand.
I stop in one place. And the pain I feel fades away slowly. However, the engagement ring I'm wearing tightens around my finger. It's nothing in comparison to the pain I felt earlier. Kyong Su's eyes stare into mine. And, slowly, I forget about the pain.
