A day drifted by, and I found myself aimlessly wandering around my apartment, lost in contemplation of the recent events. Yet, in all honesty, harbouring frustration against Dean's obstinacy couldn't persist for long, as I understood all too well that stubbornness was a trait I shared.

Gazing into my vanity mirror, I tilted my head slightly to the left to affix the last earring onto my earlobe. As it nestled into place, I straightened my head, taking a moment to appreciate the reflection before me. My makeup was delicate, and my hair cascaded in elegant curls. I pressed my lips together, allowing the crimson lipstick to spread a touch more. Abruptly, the telephone on the vanity began to ring. I grasped the sleek black phone and held it to my right ear.

"Hello," my voice resounded through the receiver.

"Abigael, it's Bobby," his voice echoed into my ear. I knew only a select few had my number. "The boys stumbled upon something on their case, and I can't quite make heads or tails of it. Was wondering if you could come take a look?" Bobby wouldn't request help unless it was significant.

"I have some time free, I'll come now," I responded promptly.

"Thanks," Bobby acknowledged, and the line went silent. Placing the phone back onto its stand, I swivelled in the chair before rising to my feet. I walked over to the bed, leaning over to retrieve my black velvet purse, more of a clutch in its design. I clutched the bag tightly, and in an instant, a swirling tendril of black smoke curled around my feet. It swiftly ascended my form, enveloping me completely in its embrace.

As the darkness receded, my vision focused, revealing the old man - Bobby. His face was buried in a book, his brows furrowed in concentration as he struggled to decipher its contents.

"You rang?" I state aloud, making him snap his head up from the book, alerted by my sudden appearance.

"You didn't have to get all dolled up for me," he quipped, and I let out a soft chuckle in response. His gaze quickly swept over my attire, taking in the simplicity of the black over-one-shoulder dress that hugged my form elegantly. Complemented by diamond-shaped golden earrings and a matching bracelet, as well as heels that completed the ensemble.

"You couldn't afford me," I replied playfully as I entered the living room. The rhythmic tap of my heels against the wooden floor created a rhythm that resonated through the room. "So, what's the emergency?" I asked as I reached his desk in a few strides, my gaze naturally falling onto the book he was poring over. Even at a glance, the book looked peculiar.

"This book they found," Bobby gripped one of the pages, and flipped it over. "It would take me decades to fully translate. I was hoping you could lend a hand," his gaze raised back up to meet my own.

"Is it because I've got more years under my belt?" I quipped, referring to my extended lifespan, a hint of a smirk playing on my painted lips. "Let's have a look," I continued, leaning over and deftly turning the book around so I could examine it. I reached out, feeling the texture of the pages beneath my fingertips. The moment I touched it, I knew it wasn't made of ordinary paper. "Fourteenth century, made from human skin," I commented, meeting Bobby's knowing gaze briefly as I confirmed his suspicion. "Latinate, very obscure," I muttered as my eyes scanned the words, attempting to extract meaning from the enigmatic text. Despite my expertise, only a few words stood out that I could readily translate.
