The three of us roamed the sets, hoping to discover Virgil hiding somewhere so we could confront him. Despite our efforts, we were unable to locate him, scouring every nook and cranny. I diverged from the boys and conducted my own search, hoping to be the one to find him. However, uncertainty lingered in my mind about what I would do if I did find him. With no magic, no demonic strength, I was just a mortal. Then again, so was he.
Unaware of the passage of time, I suddenly noticed Sam rushing toward me, his eyes wide with concern.
"The key," he blurted out, coming to a halt just inches in front of me, his hot breath brushing against me. "I think Virgil has it," concern lacing his tone.
"Damn it," I responded. If we couldn't locate him and the key, he might return it to Raphael while the three of us were stranded here. "Go tell Dean," I waved him off, and he went without a second thought.
Within moments, I observed them emerging together, and I joined them. We began discussing ways to locate Virgil; although my initial instinct was to rely on magic, I quickly dismissed the idea and suggested using technology instead. They agreed and started discussing various methods to track him down. Soon, we reached Sam's house, and it was massive—bigger than my own penthouse. I marvelled at the sight as we approached the front door, and Sam effortlessly pushed down the latch, leading us inside.
"Maybe if we get inside the police dispatch system," Sam began, and the three of us stepped in, with Dean closing the door.
"Put out an A.P.B. on Virgil," Dean suggested, steering the conversation as we walked further into the house. "Might work if he stays obvious."
"It's not like we have a lot of time." Suddenly, a woman's wail echoed down the hallway, capturing our attention. I raised my eyes and brows at the sight—it was Ruby.
"Ruby?" I mumbled under my breath as she continued to cry.
"What?" Sam asked.
"Misha!" She sobbed the man's name. "He's been stabbed to death!" she continued through her cries.
"Misha?" I mumbled the name, puzzled, as it was not a typical name one would hear. And who the hell was Misha?
Both boys exchanged a quick glance before refocusing their gazes on Ruby. "Where?" They spoke in unison, showing more interest in the location of the stab wound than the individual involved. She looked bewildered at their response before revealing the location. We were out the door before she could say anything more.
Along the way, Dean filled me in that Sam had married the fake Ruby, which kind of didn't surprise me. We reached the crime scene swiftly and were oddly allowed through, or perhaps they simply didn't notice us. Walking past the lifeless body of Misha, the cloth that covered him soaked in blood, we observed the scene. A few feet away, a homeless man was giving his statement to a police officer, but the peculiar thing was that he mentioned Raphael. This immediately caught all our interest. We headed over to the man, as the officer finished with his statement, and got the homeless man to explain it once again for us.
