THERE'S NOT MUCH YOU CAN DO WHEN A GROUP OF AROUND ELEVEN BIKERS DECIDE THEY WANT TO TAKE YOU. Especially since there's only three of us. And...well to say my heart isn't going absolutely fucking crazy would be an understatement. I hate the bikers so much having only met them once that I would rather go near widow territory again. Or the zombie herd. Or perhaps anything else.
We're lucky they don't knock us out. We're also lucky they don't try and herd us onto their bikes so they can take us back. No, instead they walk. With the three of us inbetween, guns aimed at our heads, and no room for us to attempt an escape. Like last time.
"Didn't think we'd ever see you guys again after you ran into the forest." Helmet asks. He's walking beside me although a good distance away. Blake and Sylvie remains behind us - but even I can feel the tension Blake exudes. Always watching Helmet. God, I need to stop calling him Helmet.
"What's your name?" I ask him, ignoring his previous statement.
"What's yours?"
"I asked first." I glare.
"Shame."
I hate him. Fuck, I knew I was going to bump into him again I just knew it. Him and his gang of stereotypical delinquents. Mohawks and leather and denim. Except him obviously. He's the only one that still has a helmet on. That won't show his face. I bet he's super fucking ugly.
"So, you're going to hand us over to EVA and then let them kill us?" I ask rather pointedly. I'd rather know I'm headed towards my fate. Maybe then I'll have more time to stop it. Or become prepared for it - if that's even possible.
Helmet shrugs, "We're more-so interested in Blake Finnegan."
I've mentioned this before. But Blake is a very good actor. And liar. Maybe it's a survival thing. When he hears his name - full name - mentioned by this complete stranger, he doesn't flinch. Or tense up. Or show any indication of fear. He remains consistent. Head high, eyes stark and fists clenched.
His fists have been clenched since they took his beloved guns off him.
"Why?" I ask carefully. Because Blake sure as hell isn't asking. And Sylvie has practically been ignored this entire time.
"He was on numerous strikes, went to the pit, went out on ration duty - and decided to run away instead of return. He owes a debt." Helmet explains.
"A debt?"
"His life."
"Lovely."
"My not belonging to EVA anymore shouldn't be considered an issue for them." Blake says from behind us.
"It's more of a pride thing for them." Helmet sighs. Almost like he himself is annoyed by the idea of it. Which annoys me further because he's the one working for them. Collecting and dropping off their prey.
