"Beep! Beep! Beep!"
"Huh? Oh God dammit. Time to get up."
James reached out a hand and slammed the top of the blaring alarm clock several times until it stopped.
"Aw man, I actually got some sleep. I'm still feeling miserable, though. Figures stuff like that jus' doesn't change overnight."
James rolled over, sat on the side of his bed, and picked up his phone. "Jeez ten messages? I'm not even late today."
James opened his phone and checked the messages, "Huh, they're not even from Sherr. That's the only person who texts me."
James scrolled to the first message. It was a picture, and they all were, "No number? Just a couple of photos of places. Must be some sort of spam bot."
James looked at every picture. They seemed familiar to him, "Wait, that's a picture of downtown, and that's a picture of the park, and there's the theater. Know what, maybe someone got the wrong number, whatever," James closed the phone and went to the kitchen.
James grabbed the milk from the fridge and the cereal from the cabinet and made himself breakfast.
He walked over to the other side of the island in the kitchen and sat down on a stool.
He opened his phone and started to scroll through his social media.
"Just mindlessly scrolling away again," he thought to himself.
He stopped scrolling and buried his face into his hand, "I feel like shit. And this doesn't help either," he put the phone down.
He sat in silence for a small while thinking about nothing when he remembered something.
"Oh yeah, I downloaded that app last night. Didn't I?"
He checked his apps and found nothing.
"Huh, that's weird. I don't see it anywhere. Maybe it never installed?"
He checked the settings for every app he had installed.
"M... M, M, M, there! It's installed, so where is it then?"
He tapped on the black icon, and no information was displayed except the version, version 1.0.0.
"Strange. I guess I'll have to figure it out later... shit I hope my phone wasn't hacked or something."
He once again buried his face into his hand, "I don't have time for this right now. I better get dressed," and with that, he went upstairs, got dressed, brushed his teeth, combed his hair, and started driving to campus.
He arrived at campus and pulled into a parking space when his phone buzzed. He took his phone out of his pocket and looked at the text message he received.
"Another picture? It's the park again. I guess this guy doesn't realize he has the wrong number."
He started to type at his phone, "You have the wrong number, sorry."
While waiting for a response, he took a look at the picture again. It was of the park in town at night, and when he looked a bit closer, he noticed something peering from behind the trees. It was just a silhouette of someone with two big white eyes. "Creepy," he said as a shiver ran up his spine.
He looked at the time on his phone, "Alright, guess it's time to head to class."
He grabbed his backpack and started down the path towards his class.
It was warm out, the trees had grown back their leaves while some were blossoming, and the green grass was thick with dew. He breathed in a deep breath, "What a nice day, no nightmares last night, and it's Friday. Maybe my luck has changed for the better."
