The storm raged on outside, the window pane Malo was looking out of had become blurred from all the water pouring down it. Lightning struck, illuminating the pane and revealing her reflection staring back at her. The light ceased and was followed by the boom of thunder.
"Definitely not going anywhere with all this lightning," James walked up to her.
"Yeah, but if the car wasn't stuck, we would have to risk it. Every inch away from the Foundation is closer to freedom," she continued to stare out the window.
"To me, it sounds like they have almost every inch of the world covered. Especially since I've only just heard of anomalies a week ago."
"Yeah, they know how to keep it under wraps. We are an exception. This storm is the only thing that has gotten us this far and even then... that won't stop them," Malo's ear started to twitch. She seemed sad but drowned it out with her anger.
"It will be alright in the end," James put on a smile.
"How can you be so sure?" Malo said solemnly.
"Cause I got you."
Malo's anger started to fade. She had a weary smile on her face, and a little of Jame's optimism had spread to her.
They spent the rest of the day watching the rain. It never stopped, and the thunder never ceased its rumble.
Though it was never light outside, it grew darker out as the day turned into night.
James stared out the front window, still watching the rain, as it calmed him. Malo was somewhere in the house exploring its many rooms.
As he looked out the window, lightning would light up the sky and reveal the forest.
Lightning struck once more. James saw something in the brief moment the forest was illuminated.
A distant rumbling shook him as he waited for the next bolt to strike nearby.
Lightning once again struck, revealing a multitude of darkened silhouettes that were not there before.
"BOOOM!" Thunder roared, Jame's eyes widened as he stood still in shock.
Lightning struck again, revealing even more figures that were once hidden in the brush.
James slowly walked backward and then legged it to the hallway.
"MALO!" He shouted, "they're here!"
Malo's ears perked up, and she ran up the stairs to where James was standing.
"I saw them in the forest! They found us!"
Malo stared at James with her white orbs for eyes. She closed them and began to focus.
"I can see them. They all have cameras attached to their helmets, I can see exactly what they see. They are looking through the cameras."
"You told me you can be seen through cameras, right?"
"Yes..." Malo started to grow angry, "but they are arrogant as always!"
"What do you mean?"
"If I can access the devices, it means they aren't shielded against any electronic interference. I'll be able to disappear off their cameras, if only for a little bit, it will be hard to hack into as many of these devices as there are. Stay here."
"Stay here? Where are you going! What are you going to do?" James grabbed hold of her paw.
Malo turned towards James, "I'm going to kill every last one of those sons of bitchs," she said in a calm intensity.
