𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗣𝗧𝗘𝗥 𝟮𝟬"You out there killing em," Solana praised Trei, who caught the Nike water bottle she tossed him. He was sweaty, breathing heavily after the long tryouts that had finally come to a close, and the coaches were huddled up making their decisions on who stayed and go.
While Trei guzzled his water and receiving praise De and Deucey, Solana looked at the hundreds of teen boys from all over stood with their parent that were waiting to see if the long hours of tryouts was worth flying or driving out. She noticed a couple coaches starting to approach boys from afar and watching how a few were being handed school's welcome drawstring backpacks, and the others were given pats on the shoulders, signaling that they weren't chosen.
The difference of the coach approaching them, there were two.
Solana didn't know rather two coaches means you're absolutely a goner, or her child done great, undoubtedly so, but she hoped it was the second choice.
"Lemme just..." the black coach clapped for Trei as he walked up with the academy's soccer scout, "I'm sold. Coach Gimenez told me all about you. But seeing it in real time, I'm wordless. You two must be Trei's parents?" he asked, looking to Solana and De.
"Yeah, Coach Kone, Gimenez, this my mom Solana, stepdad De'Aundre, and little brother DeAngelo." Trei introduced before they could, and that was the first time De heard Trei call him his stepdad, and honestly he was honored.
The coaches shook hands with each Solana and De, instantly recognizing him as one of the Booker Brothas, and dapped Deucey.
"I scouted you guys' son at his high school, and I was impressed those two days I was there, I'm blown away today."
"The skills, the technique that you have is astounding," Coach Kone spoke, "Typically players are advanced in one position. But you, Trei, you actually have technique in all positions. I think you know by now that you're in."
