Tears didn't stop. I placed around my room, inhaled and exhaled, slapped my cheeks, did push-ups and what not.
Nothing worked.
Except for the newborn rush of adrenaline from the push-ups, everything else was falling apart.
I knew for a fact that I was in trouble, but I was nowhere near the velocity of it until my mom came into the picture.
No, not again Donnor. Not again. You got my dad. You can't get my mom. You can't get me.
I frantically looked around the room. As expected, there were no windows but only this door which only opened when Donnor rang a bell or I called in.
Wait.....
"Watt!!"
I fixed my hair, wiped off the tears, and slapped my cheeks.
The door opened, revealing the muscled man.
"Yes?"
I pulled off my puppy eyes, coughing as I pressed my chest.
"I---agh! I need some fresh air, Watt...I am not able to breathe...I don't know what it is but I feel...."
I coughed loudly, losing my balance.
"Okay....okay! Follow me."
Watt gestured for me to follow him as I kept coughing with a concealed smile.
My plan worked!
I thought we would be going down, but instead, he led me upstairs, to the place that I had seen earlier filled with herbs and plants.
"Take a little stroll up here. Get back to me whenever you feel okay."
I nodded, unsure if I should thank him. I swept a good look at this green place for the first time.
Apart from the greenery and the wooden door which leads to Donnor's place, there was a warehouse sort of structure in the far corner.
To not make Watt suspicious, I rested my hands on the railing.
The view before me was of the sun setting amidst the sand and quiet waves. It was all blue as far as my eyes could go.
But the sea had a sparkling intricacy to it, and the way it quietly washed itself over the dry sand brought solidarity to my mind.
Which was funny, because when I look at Donnor's eyes, it physically hurts my body. Everything about him gets me unsettled and distressed.
I can't tolerate a man who has ruined my career and tore my family apart.
I looked up at the sky. Stars had already appeared.
I closed my eyes, praying to get back to my mom. My detective agency. Marie. Daisy. Rick. Taylor. Gosh. I don't even know if he is still alive.
After giving myself a quick moment, I glanced at Watt. He was standing at the door like a brick.
Well, I could go to the warehouse, but how do I get inside?
Distraction. I need to distract Watt.
I went towards the warehouse, whistling my way through with a face stating don't mind me!
Once I reached the other side of the warehouse, I breathed a sigh of relief. Watt still stood at the same place.
I glanced at the opened window of the warehouse, peeking inside.
There were people inside. I could hear voices.
"Why is she still here?"
"Ask the boss. Not me."
