I Don't Bite

Even though my body was burning, my mind was circling and pools of sweat settled my hair,

I heard him loud and clear.

And it made my chest take a dip in a weird bubbly sensation which lasted for a few seconds.

I faced his buried head.

"Did you just say that?"

He looked up at me from the newspaper, throwing it on the table. His hand went across the back of his neck, exercising his head.

"I said what I saw."

My nostrils flared, face tightening into a ball.

Is he serious right now?

"Let me rephrase it. You, saw me undressing myself...and moaning?"

He tilted his head, resting it on the sofa along with his arm propped up.

"Yes?"

Suddenly I realized that I was in my sports bra, arguing with him. I grabbed the cardigan from the floor and put it back on. Last thing i wanted, was to give him more opportunities to make me feel weird and uncomfortable.

I changed the subject with a genuine request, my tone and voice both dropping.

"Look...can you change the temperature to moderate? I am having some issues. I can't handle this temperature."

He didn't say anything, instead looked at my face briefly. I wiped off the sweat which kept crawling my skin. He pulled out the remote from his pocket, tapping some buttons.

The air in the room turned from humid and hot to moderate and cold.

He is an asshole, but he deserved a note of gratitude for this.

I held my cardigan tightly, passing him a small smile. Atleast it was genuine.

"Thank you."

He kept the remote on the table. I couldn't see his face as he picked up the newspaper back.

"You could have just asked me. I don't bite."

I wasn't sure what to say. My face broke into a faint smile as I got back to the cleaning. It was funny because he might not bite but...he kills thousands of innocent...

Rest of the cleaning went smooth. Soon I went back to the kitchen and got the oatmeal ready for serving.

I went out. He wasn't at the sofa anymore. I kept the tray on the table, my eyes shifting to the newspaper he was reading so keenly.

Big blue letters in capital caught my attention. I tilted my head, reading the name...

WEST HAWAII TODAY

I picked up the newspaper, reading the title again. Underneath the title was the name of the website, WESTHAWAIITODAY.COM

Oh shit....my shoulders dropped in a state of realisation.

I was somewhere in the west side of Hawaii, far away from LA...my mother and my friends....

That explained the crisp weather and Donnor's place being situated here. Hawaii isn't naturally known to have a vast population. Rather it is considered to be isolated, well, except for some islands...

Of course....this has to be Donnor's hideout. How did i not see that?

But if he is already in a hideout why would he want me to be his cover? For extra protection in case the media catches his base?

Maybe....

As I was about to keep the newspaper back, my eyes hovered on the first headline written in big black letters.
