Zara

She fell asleep in the car, I carried her home instead of mine because her mum is probably worried sick about her, she left without saying anything and she hasn't answered in hours. We left at 7 pm, we got some food at a restaurant which was two hours and then we watched a movie and now we are parked outside of her home.

When she danced on the stage I felt something, my heart burst in my chest and I couldn't keep my eyes off her. She moved like an angel, like a feather dancing in the wind and I knew then. It all hit me.

Now carrying her to the door of her house is just something to top off the night. It's not late, it's 11 pm and it's dark outside, the dance must have tired her out. I knock on the door and ring the doorbell and she shuffled in my arms, I smile down at her before wiping the smile off my face as the door opened.

Naomi stood there, she looks down at her daughter and let out a sigh of relief, she moved aside to allow me inside.

"Take her to bed, come down and explain please," Naomi whispers and I nod and walk up the stairs. My eyes met Caden's as he looks outside of his door, his eyes were on mine, and then he looks at his sister and back at me.

I ignore him and open her bedroom door, her room has not changed one bit. Carefully, I place her on her bed and pull the duvet over her and look at her sleeping peacefully.

"Sleep well, Noa," I whisper and look at her for a while, I trace the details on her face, feel the softness of her skin and then stand up and leave.

"Get here now," Caden says and I shake my head and go downstairs.

Naomi stands in the kitchen and she looks at me from across the counter and smiles for a brief second and I walk over.

"I'm so sorry, I brought her to ballet class and it lasted longer than I thought. She's eaten, we had food at practice and she's just really tired, she tried some ballet." I explain and Naomi's smile came back.

"She did ballet?" She asks, a shocked tone in her voice and I nod slowly, "She hasn't done that in years, she quit because you decided to do it."

"She's really good." I smile and she smiles and nods.

"She prefers cheer, she loves it." The woman says and I hum and take a seat on one of the chairs in front of the counter, "Thank you for bringing her home safe."

"Of course." I see the smile on her face and I can't help but smile, "Could we please talk about something?"

"Of course dear, what's the matter?" She pulls stray strands of hair behind her ear as she looks at me with wonder. Am I going to tell her? I know this could screw things up if he hears.

I glance over my shoulder and up the stairs to see if anyone is there but there's nobody, it's just me and her alone with no possibility of anyone hearing.

"It's about me and Caden, so uhm we went to a party and of course there were drinks and we drank. I was drunk and he took me to a spare bedroom and I don't know what else happened because I can't remember but I woke up and I was in a bed, I had a duvet wrapped around me and my head hurt a lot. I think something happened because the next thing I knew I was his girlfriend." I confess and the woman looks shocked and very annoyed. I feel tears fill my eyes as I finished talking, it feels good to finally tell someone, "And, I don't feel anything with him, I am really sorry to disappoint."

"Honey, don't feel sorry it's not your fault. I am so sorry he did this to you, does anyone know?" She asks as she pulls me into her arms and I shake my head, "He didn't ask you or anything?"

"No, I was really drunk and he was too or he didn't drink as much but I had a lot and we were alone. I woke up with no clothes on and he didn't have any on either so something obviously happened." I whisper and she nods and runs her fingers through my hair.

Naomi has always been my second mother, she's sweet and I trust her even if we haven't seen each other with previous events. She is always there for me and she loves me too.

"I'm going to have to tell Dorian about this if that's okay, I think it's best if this happened and you don't feel anything with him you should end things. You don't seem happy with him Zara, I've seen you happy and it's not with him." She says and I nod in agreement.

"I can't break up with him, he will suspect things and I don't want him to do the same to anyone else." I say as I pull away from her arms and I take a deep breath, "I can't risk it."

"Hey it's okay, just take your time we can speak to him about everything, just please be careful, see if things change or you can just end things with him soon, it's your choice." She looks at me with comforting eyes and there's something about the look that comforts me.

"Thank you." I wipe my tears before any other tears could fall and then take another breath as I look at her once again, "Can I spend the night?"

"Of course." She smiles and I thank her, "You can sleep in Noa's room if you want until we speak to Caden."

"Would she mind?" I ask and the woman laughs and shakes her head.

"Not at all, sleep well Zara." She smiles and I return the smile, "There are spare clothes in the wardrobe she wouldn't mind with that either."

"Thank you, goodnight Naomi," I say before heading upstairs and into the girl's bedroom, I didn't look once at Caden but I could feel his eyes on me and it made me want to cry again.

The feeling disappears once my eyes land on the girl sleeping in her bed. The same flutter in my stomach returns but I ignore it like before.
