I would take the stars out of the sky for you,
...stop the rain from falling if you ask me to
I'll do anything for you, your wish is my command...
I can move a mountain when your hand is in my hand-
"Come on, sing with me," Aidan urged and Halwyn only shook his head laughing at the young man riding beside him.
"Why do you listen to oldies?"
"What do you mean? Classic songs are good, way better than the usual Gen Z shit."
Halwyn gazed at Aidan's grinning face before returning to concentrate on his driving. "They are better," he agreed.
"See? When I become famous, I'm going to sing this in front of the stage and dedicate it to you."
The sudden declaration made Halwyn's heart skip a beat, even his hands tightened around the wheels. "Just sing your stupid song..."
Aidan laughed at his flustered face but before he could tease him some more, his phone rang and Halwyn didn't mean to see it, but he did---the name on the caller ID was Nia. The man waved the phone to him and he quickly understood, lowering the volume of the stereo as Aidan took the call.
It took all of Halwyn's willpower not to listen to the sweet exchange between two people who love each other so much they couldn't even stay far apart. To be in love, was such a beautiful thing. Yet, Halwyn couldn't find it himself to celebrate this when the person he longed for was in love with someone else...
---and that person was none other than the man sitting beside him.
But he didn't know this, and he wouldn't probably know.
Halwyn promised never to let Aidan know about his feelings...
Without bothering the other, he trained his ears to hear only the music that was playing in his stereo that day. He listened to it so much that it was the only song that played in his mind each time he thought of him.
... To you, I guess I'm just a clown, who picks you up each time you're down, oh baby---
[5 YEARS LATER]
"Oh, you to me are everything
The sweetest song that I could sing
Oh, baby, oh, baby
To you, I guess I'm just a clown
Who picks you up each time you're down
Oh, baby, oh, baby!"
"Oh, good god not this song again!" Steffan couldn't take it anymore, not when Eurig and Maxen were singing along to their heart's content. "Halwyn, please turn off your fucking radio or change the stupid station before I break it into pieces!"
Maxen scorned, "So cute! Did anyone ever tell you how sexy you are when violent?"
Steffan glared. "Why do you even like this song?"
"It's in his playlist," Eurig pointed at Halwyn who quickly turned off his stereo before Steffan berates him again.
"What's wrong with my playlist?"
Eurig, "There's nothing wrong with your playlist, Steff just doesn't have a taste."
Steffan rolled his eyes. "Oh please, we all know the story behind the song, I'm not about to listen to another one of Hal's moping tales about his first love."
