Gwen, brunette and angelic, looked on as Eurig fixed 'her' make-up while Max and Steff helped her put on her dusty pink blazer. Cadi, who was watching outside of the room couldn't help grinning as the three sweat it out for Hal's sudden transformation.
"She's gone?" Halwyn asked, referring to their coworker who was part of the HR office. Apparently, she had almost seen Hal putting on a wig. Thankfully, she was too drunk to even recognize it was him.
Cadi nodded and after he mouthed the word 'Thank you', she quipped, "So, are we having fun?"
The sarcasm was not missed by Hal who grinned back. "Oh yeah, definitely."
Max, who was perspiring all over, stood up straight from minutes of crouching trying to iron the crease on Hal's trousers. "Fuck 'em! Tell Aidan to fucking figure out whether he's going to spend this day with Gwen or with you. I did not sign up for this!"
Eurig, "Your mouth moves faster than your hands."
"Says the one who forgot what color of mascara Gwen wore earlier."
"I'm doing her make-up! Do you know how hard that is? It's in my hands to obscure his overall appearance."
"Guys," Hal raised both hands to stop his friends from quarreling. "It's almost over. I promise I'll treat you after this."
"You better," even Steffan couldn't help grunting after fixing his hair. "Change topic, why is Aidan acting that way?"
"What do you mean?"
"Didn't you notice? The way he looks at you, it's strange."
Both Eurig and Max looked at Steffan waiting for something, even Cadi was intrigued. Hal snapped, "It's just the usual him. He never stops asking for Gwen though."
"Really? What do you think Max? That 1970s song was doing it for them, don't you agree?"
Max thought for a moment. "Hard to tell. It can be anybody's guess at this point."
Halwyn rolled his eyes at the seriousness of the conversation. "That's it? That's your homosexual viewpoint on this particular crisis?"
Max smirked. "A crisis you put yourself into. Aidan is still as cute as ever. What?" he asked indignantly when everyone stared.
"He isn't wrong though," Eurig whispered.
Maxen, "Well, I guess a well-timed blow job is probably the answer---"
They stopped when Cadi called their attention and they slowly left the room with Hal as Gwen being the last person to exit. She looked around, flipped her hair, and walked back to the ballroom.
"Hey, hey...aren't you that model?"
It was Bruce, one of their foreign coworkers and part of the IT department. The man thought of himself as the coolest guy in the company because he knows a lot of things about technology and computers. As far as Hal could remember, Maxen dated him for a few days and then turned the table around by telling people he wasn't gay, and that he only pitied Max. After a few days, he then tried flirting with Cadi who savagely turned him down. Everyone in the office hated him, especially Hal. He could never forgive him for what he did to Maxen.
Gwen looked at the hand holding her wrist then the man. "Do I know you?"
Bruce leered at her, smirking from ear to ear. "It's true what they say about you. You have some kind of aura."
One of her perfectly trimmed brows slanted. "I have somewhere to be. If you don't have anything else to say..."
"Hey, stay!" The grip around her wrist tightened, and it made her wince.
