Nia Hier was a beautiful sophomore taking up business administration when she met Aidan. Halwyn would never forget the girl, and that was not because she got engaged with Aidan but because she was among those few faces that would be immediately greeted by an admiring crowd of both boys and girls the moment she strode in the hallway of their university.
At that time, Aidan was known as the sullen-looking badass college student who would often wait outside of his best friend's classroom.
"I heard Miss Jones called you into her office again," Halwyn said as they walked to the hallway deciding to have their lunch at the cafeteria since he had an upcoming exam and needed to review. "Are you making the visit to her office a weekly ritual?"
Aidan answered with a charming smile. "I don't know what you heard but it wasn't me."
"Who are you, Shaggy? They said you exposed yourself to a group of freshman girls."
"It's the sausage. I was eating in my car!"
"Yeah, whatever..."
As they steered through the crowd, they noticed some posters of upcoming activities that adorned the walls. Halwyn stared at the journalism competition and pursed his lips, Aidan saw this.
"Just send it to them," he urged.
Hal frowned at him. "Why do you always have to make everything sound so easy?"
"Because it is, Hal. Let's get some coffee, I'm starving."
"You're starving and you're getting a coffee?"
As they turned to walk inside the cafeteria, a group of students walked by and one of them caught their attention. Nia, pure and perfect was talking to her classmates. The smile did not only make her face radiant but it also turned her whole appearance angelic.
Aidan was smitten.
"That girl---"
Halwyn followed his gaze and a slight discomfort entered his chest for some reason. "Yeah, she's Nia Hier."
"The campus princess?"
"If that's what you want to call her. Are you getting a coffee or what?"
Aidan was still staring at the back of the girl talking to her friends. It lasted for a few seconds before it went back to Hal with an unusual glow. "Sure, I'll have what you have."

"Hal?"
Eurig's voice broke Halwyn's reverie, as he blinked back memories. They were inside a club enjoying their Friday night since tomorrow was the weekend. Hal didn't want to go but thought that he needed to get away from the strain of organizing his mom's birthday party. On their table were three bottles of wine and two bottles of vodka plus their favorite chips and dips and a party-size pizza.
"So, let me get this straight," Eurig started once more after discovering that Hal wasn't actually listening. "You agreed for him to bring Nia to your mom's birthday party?"
"What am I supposed to say? Mom knows Nia. Aidan introduced her back then."
"Are they back together?" Cadi asked curiously while taking a pizza.
"No...I don't think so. I mean, he didn't say anything."
Max pressed, "Did you ask?"
Hal gave him an irritated glance. "Of course, I didn't! But...I think it's possible."
"I tried stalking her social media feeds but she hasn't updated for years."
"Since she broke up with Aidan?" Steffan inquired and was also checking his social media, no doubt checking the same person.
