The next morning find Halwyn with Aidan at the kitchen table eating toast while discussing random topics, mostly, on what Hal would write if he was part of the editorial column. Neither one of them was checking on their phones and they would rather be in their own world than be bothered to explain why they were together in the first place.
"Come on now, be serious," Aidan mildly scolded but was grinning when Hal kicked him under the chair, chuckling whenever he would flinch since his feet were quite near his crotch. "You're still going to write about this person even if he is a good person?" he insisted on knowing the answer to his question, the newspaper was opened to the part where a famous politician was smiling alongside his family.
Hal took a bite of his toast before speaking, "I'm not sure how good of a person he is. On the other hand, it could be someone who always plays by the rules. But you can play by the rules and still be a jerk, you know? In fact, some of the biggest idiots I know are those people who follow the rules. Usually, because they make others feel like crap when they don't."
He would follow this statement with a laugh as usual and Aidan loves every facet of his character and would never grow tired of it. It hadn't been long since they had accepted their relationship yet Aidan didn't want to let him go and he ended up coming up with all sorts of reasons to make him stay.
"I really need to go..." Hal breathed as Aidan put an arm around him, and then pulled him closer. When Hal didn't resist at all, he pressed his body against his. "Why are you being like this? Are you going to pay for my sick leave?"
Aidan grinned. "I'll pay double for a whole week."
"Dan..." Hal warned but the man started kissing his face, his neck, and back to his lips again. He kissed him like he hadn't kissed him for a long while when all they did was kiss. "I don't want to be a kept man, okay? I have a career and I'm serious about it."
"I know that I just don't want to be apart from you..."
Smiling, Hal kissed him back for the sake of kissing, more than happy to feel his tongue gently pushing into his mouth as Aidan gently caressed him while tightly holding him. Simply enjoying the physical sensation. There was an obvious heat and yearning that filled his body, and in spite of making love the whole night over and over, Aidan still showed some restraint and wouldn't move forward unless Hal allowed him to.
They would've stayed like that forever and probably ended up in bed again if not for the sound of the intercom buzzing, interrupting their moment. Aidan rolled his eyes and swore that he would literally kill his bandmates if they happened to be the ones in front of the door. Hal laughed and asked him to open the door as he proceeded to put the dishes in the automatic washer.
"Owen, I swear to god---"
Aidan stopped when he saw the person in front of the door. It wasn't any of his bandmates, nor was it his mom. It was their manager, Glenda Pye.
"Glenda? What are you doing here so early?"
Glenda's eyes flickered past him and saw Hal tilting his head and wondering what was the reason for her visit. The woman's face paled, confirming what she knew all along. She turned to Aidan and raised a brown envelope in front of his face.
"We need to talk. About this."

Glenda Pye had always been a good manager but had only been with the band for a year. She dearly loves the boys and enjoys their company, and she thinks they could go far especially Aidan with how he could write songs and compose his music. So, being the bearer of bad news was the least of her priorities and a job she wasn't happy to fulfill.
