Verse 36: Be My Mistake

"Can anyone of you try and call my brother? He's not answering my calls and I think I know why."

They all know why...

Siana wasn't actually strict when it came to her brothers though she practically raised them since their parents weren't exactly the type of conventional parents which was why they grew up with more resilience. However, that didn't mean that Sia wouldn't hold back about her opinion when it concerned her brothers, especially Hal, who was more secretive than Ion. And Sia wasn't actually subtle when it comes to her opinion and Hal hates hearing them.

Eurig volunteered, "I can try to reach him," he whipped out his cell phone and headed outside to make a call. It was at the same time that Sia's secretary entered her office.

"What is it, Manda?"

"Uhm," she hesitated at first but when Sia raised her brows, she quickly said, "Someone's waiting at the lobby..."

"For me?"

"No, actually it's for...Cadi."

Cadi pointed at herself. "Who?"

"She said her name is Megan."

Surprised marred her face. Never once did Megan try to visit her in the office, though she would wait somewhere nearby whenever she picked her up before, she would never dare show up in her workplace. Sia waved her hand, gesturing for her to leave and meet her guest. From the corner of her eye, she saw Maxen and Steffan glancing at her suspiciously.

Cadi immediately went down to the lobby on the first floor a bit apprehensive. She worried that something might've happened to Meg and she prayed that wasn't the case.

Sure enough, the taller woman was sitting on the leather couch patiently waiting for her. Her forehead was creasing as she read one of the magazines on display, all previous releases meant for visitors to peruse while they wait.

"Meg?"

Hearing her voice, Megan stood up and hurried to her side, still clutching the magazine in her hand. "I came here as soon as I could."

There was something about her tone that made Cadi's heart melt and she smiled, "It's still too early to leave the office. Why are you here?"

"Uhm..." Meg looked around, her cheeks flushing and her hands were quivering. There were two things she would like to address, and she wasn't quite certain how Cadi would react to them. "First, I...I want another chance."

Although she said this as softly as she could, it sounded like an exclamation in Cadi's ears and she blinked back, trying to discern if she was talking to the same person she had known for some time. "Are you---"

"I don't care anymore about my parents, Cadi. I don't care about anyone else but us. You know I woke up early morning just to be dragged by my own mother to meet with this childhood friend that I used to play with and I couldn't even recall the last time we talked. All she wanted was for me to go out with him. She was really pushing it and I'm so...I'm pissed off!"

Megan was visibly shaking and Cadi was starting to worry. She pulled her back to the lobby room and had her sit back on the couch. "Calm down," she soothed. "Don't rush your words."

Tears suddenly welled in Meg's eyes as she professed, "I love you, Cadi. I want to be with you. I told her that. I'm so sorry for what I did to you. I thought that if I didn't talk about my identity with them, they would see the things that I did on my own when they disowned me and then learned to accept me eventually, but I was wrong. They'll never be proud of me. It doesn't matter how many achievements I made, because the only thing that matters to them is control. I can't do this anymore. Not with them. I want you back in my life."
