After getting myself all ready, I opened my bedroom door and descended the stairs.
Before I could fully get to the last few steps, I heard a loud *Bark*
I stopped in my tracks and looked down to see Mylo, my 5-year-old golden retriever, eagerly waiting for me at the bottom of the stairs.
Seeing him, I continued my descent down, but this time going down faster to get to Mylo
As soon as my right foot touched the cold wooden floors, I knelt and embraced my dog in a tight hug
"Who's a good boy? You are. Yes you are" I said in an overly high pitched gushy voice as I ruffled his light golden brown fur. "hope you had a good night's sleep".
Mylo jumped around, wagging his tail and stuck his tongue out to show his excitement. Safe to assume he slept well last night.
After playing around with him for a bit, I went into the kitchen.
Where I saw Saanvi sitting on the kitchen table on her phone with a half-eaten bowl of changua, while my mom was busy looking at the mirror attached to the fridge, trying to fix her waist length navy black hair up into a tight military like bun.
"Good morning mama" I greeted her while making my way to the seat across from Saanvi.
"Morning Mimi" Mama greeted back. "Make yourself some toast or something. You two are probably already late." She said but I was honestly not listening to what she said as I was to distracted by the purple necklace that always around her neck.
I swear I have never seen my mother with that thing off. She even showers with it on as if it's a part of her body. Well atleast its really pretty as it has a purple gem at the end of it, but the more I stare at it I notice it wasn't it's usual dull purple color- instead it looked blue, and I swear it was glowing too.
I point this abnormality out to my mom, expecting her to tell me it was a different necklace or something and it wasn't a big deal, but instead she looks nurveous and covers the gem with her hand saying "oh..this? ...This is... nothing... don't worry about it Mija".
I found her reaction weird, as if she was hiding something...or maybe I'm just being paranoid and looking too much into...but it still seems suspicious
But before I could continue my thoughts, they were interrupted by loud slurping noises. I look to my side and of course it was Saanvi.
"Can you not slurp your food like a child" I snapped at her annoyed by the sound. Saanvi just shrugged pretty much ignoring my complaint "it's not my fault this soup is good. You should try some"
Her suggestion made me look down at the empty plate infront of me and I realized mama hadn't made me breakfast
How could my own mother make breakfast for her and forget about me? That is so unfair. I let my annoyance be known by asking just that.
"Mama, what gives? You didn't cook anything for me" I said crossing my arms like a kid in a toy store that was just told "no" by their mom.
"Well the soup was for you mija, it's just-" Mama's sentence got swiftly inturputed.
"You were taking too long and the soup was getting cold." Saanvi said with a pleased grin on her face. "You know me, I just couldn't let good food go to waste, especially when it was practically begging to be eaten" she added while dramatically while placing her left arm on her forehead and leaning back as if she was about to faint.
