With trembling hands and a voice quivering with disbelief, Yoko burst into the living room, where Kenji was in the kitchen busy preparing dinner "Kenji...I don't know what happened or what I saw," she exclaimed, her words tumbling out in a rush "but when I went into Mia's room to ask her what she wanted for dinner, I opened the door and there was this glow around her and the dog." She gestured wildly, trying to mimic the ethereal light that had surrounded them. "The light was so bright, intense and blinding so I covered my eyes but when I opened them...they were gone. She was gone. Just like that. Vanished into thin air!" Her breath hitched and frantic as she recounted the impossible scene.
"I don't know what happened. It wasn't like anything I'd ever seen, it was as if she was absorbed by the light itself. We have to do something. We have to find her" Yoko's voice broke with fear and panic with her body trembling until Kenji gripped her shoulders trying to calm her down.
"Hey, hey, it's alright honey. I can barely understand what you're saying. Take deep breaths okay" he instructed her which she followed "That's right, deep breaths...so you said Mia and Mylo just vanished?"
Now feeling calmer, she nodded. "...and there was a glowing light that engulfed them both?" He asked and she nodded once more. Kenji started thinking about the seemingly impossible scenario she had told him until he thought of something.
"Was the light purple?!" he loudly asked and Yoko nodded too "Yes! Yes! It was like this light purple glowing thing and..." she exclaimed before noticing her husband's expression "Kenji...?". His face had suddenly turned pale after she confirmed its color. That's when he knew exactly what happened.
"No no no no" He started pacing around the kitchen, running his fingers through his hair with a worried look. "No no no no" he just kept on saying, prompting Yoko to now be the one asking what was wrong but before she could get any answer, he bolted upstairs.
"Kenji!" Yoko called out but got no answer so she decided to just wait for him.
A few minutes later, he came back downstairs, looking more distraught than ever and he plopped himself on the couch with his head in his hands. "Kenji, what's going on?" Yoko rushed over, now even more concerned .
"...I didn't think this would happen this quick" he started mumbling to himself "I was going to talk with her when I saw she had already put it on, but shoot I'm too late" he breathed heavily in frustration.
"You still haven't told me what's happening. I need to know!" Yoko demanded, causing Kenji to stand up from his seat "The Necklace!" he shouted, accidentally yelling at his wife, but she brushed it off. "you mean the one you're always talking about?"
"Yes!. That damn necklace!" he belted before sitting back down in defeat "After the fire, I was going to go back to finally get that stupid thing off of Yesenia but..." he started before getting interrupted by his wife "Who's Yesenia?" she asked but Kenji just sighed, "...Rosa" he hesitantly mumbled with both of their expressions switching to sadness when he said that name. But now that Yoko knew who he was talking about he continued
"I was going to destroy it once and for all but somehow Mia got to it first" Kenji grunted as he once again started pacing back and forth, a habit he always did when he felt stressed "I thought I still had time, but if I knew this would happen, I would have warned her about it sooner...but she's already gone and I don't know where to" he rambled
"who knows what that monster could be saying or doing to her...Yoko, I don't know what to do," he said, with defeated expression as he looked to his wife, hoping she would give him answers or show some sympathy but instead she just rolled her eyes.
