All Mei could remember was DBK being out of control. In fact, so out of control he hurt his kid. Red son laid on the floor beside her behind some bushes. They were trying to hide while the others dealt with DBK. Mei looked around anxiously, her eyes darting from MK, to Wukong, to Sandy, and the others. Something was overpowering DBK, and they couldn't figure out what. She glanced back down at the person lying beside her. She pulled him closer to the bush, hoping to hide him better.

"Hey..." She shook him gently. "Red boy!" She whispered. His eyes fluttered open, and he sat up, looking around confused. "You're up! Are you okay?" She stands up, lending her hand to him but when he takes it and she tries to pull him up, he yowls and falls back to the ground. "What is it!" She dashed back onto the grass and crouched beside him.

"Ugh- I- It's... my- agh! Arm." He grunted, gripping the upper part of his arm.

"Is there something I can do to help?" She spoke softly.

"You could go and do something productive. Go help them stop my father, I can patch up a wound on my own." He turned away, still holding his arm, and he began walking.

"Hey! You do not take that attitude with me, young demon!" She shouts, racing after him. "I'm staying with you." She huffs. He groans yet he pats her on the shoulder.

"Don't cause any casualties." He mutters and continues walking.

"Me? Casualties! Pft- never- yeah... fair." She shrugs. "So where exactly are we going?" Red son pinched his nose, annoyed.

"We're going to find running water so I can rinse off this abrasion." He motions to his arm then grabs her hand, pulling her along. Mei blushed, she knew he was a softie deep down. Red son let go when he saw her staring at their hands. They walked in awkward silence through trees, eventually finding a small river. They sat down at the riverbanks and Red son began taking off his jacket.

"This reminds me of when you helped train me to use the Samadhi fire! You were in your tank top then as well." She crossed her legs, watching as he gently tried to remove the jacket.

"Good observation dragon girl." He rolled his eyes and winced. "Ah!" He gripped his arm. Mei put her hands on his. She simply nodded and then he let go and let her get the sleeve off.

"Oh my gosh-" Mei's jaw hung open when she saw the gash on his arm, not really long, but deep, and nasty looking.

"What? What is it-" His voice died off when he saw his cut as well. "I have to wash it."

"Just stay." Mei raced over to a tree and pulled off a large leaf. She then went back to the river and managed to cup water in the leaf. "I'm gonna pour it on it okay." She sat beside him and he turned away.

"Like I'd trust you to- to..." His voice trailed off when Mei frowned at him. He looked at her, studying her, trying to decide if he could trust her. He nodded. She smiled and poured the water on his arm. She continued to scoop water, and pour it, until it was as clean as it could get. As she was cleaning the scratch, all she could think about was how heartless his father was. He hurt his own son, and did not care at all. He was under the influence of something but they weren't sure what, but despite that, surely the DBK would try to resist hurting his son. It filled Mei with rage, sparks came out from her fingertips but she did her best to hide her emotions. "Dragon girl? Is something wrong." He continuously glanced over, trying not to stare. She paused, sniffing.

"No, no. Nothing is wrong! I was just making sure it looked better. And it does!" She bounced to her feet and smiled.

"Are you sure? You're acting weirder than usual." He looked her up and down.
