Prior knowledge: In this one shot they are already on more friendly terms, More of their season 4+ relationship instead of the usual season 1 dynamic.
Mei had been helping out at Pigsy's like she always does. Finally, she was done for the day.
"Mei! Will you be back for dinner tonight?" Pigsy called, pausing what he was doing. Mei was like a daughter to him.
"I'm honestly not sure, I think I want to find something out in the town tonight, I heard there's a new noodle shop- I'll let you know if it's anything to worry about!" She winked. Pigsy nodded.
"How dare they come near the turf of Pigsys! FINEST! NOODLE- Shop..." He paused when he realized no one was around to listen. Mei had fled during his rant. "Alright then. MK GET DOWN HERE, IT'S ALMOST DINNER AND THAT MEANS DELIVERIES!"
"But what about my dinner!" MK whined as he came downstairs.Mei strolled down the streets, sniffing past each shop, seeing if she would find anything intriguing, She halted to a stop when she saw the familiar barbeque stand.
"Wassup friend!" Mei jumped on Red son and he clawed her off.
"What do you want?" He grumbled under his breath as he pulled the door closed, then locked it.
"Absolutely nothing." She smiled. He stared at her like she was crazy, which she was.
"Hm. Well then... how has everything been going with your Samadhi fire control?" He crossed his arms and the two began to walk. Mei explained her recent at home practice, it was getting easier by the day.
"-But regardless it was more fun with you helping me." She concluded. Red son's heart grew warm, which was a strange sensation.
"You seem to be doing fine enough." He shrugged. Mei was a tad shocked by how quickly he brushed her off.
"I suppose! Say- where are your parents?" Mei checked over both of his shoulders, looking around. Red son gripped her shoulders to get her to stop.
"They had more important things to do." He shrugged.
"How can things be more important than spending time with and helping your child?" Mei frowned.
"It's none of your concern! Besides, it doesn't bother me, and it's just working..." He looked at the ground, kicking his feet.
"Oh come on, I know you, admit it! I also know that you had started this stand as a way to bond and spend time with your mother and father." She reasoned, and he sighed.
"Like I said- it doesn't matter right now. They aren't here. We can't change that." He kept walking. Mei sped up after him.
"Awwww!" She cooed. "You said we! As in me and you!" She bubbled, jumping around him. She knew that wasn't the point of conversation but she also knew she should change the topic. Red son turned bright red and he hid behind his hands. Mei halted and then slowly walked over to him, taking his hands off his face and looking into his eyes, trying to seem as understanding as possible. All Red son knew was how much joy he felt near her, but not why. She then grabbed his wrist and tugged him along. He didn't resist, shocked by how he just followed her. His gaze was on her, having no idea where they were going.
"Um... Dragon girl, where exactly do you plan on going?" He shouted hesitantly. She stopped and let go.
"Well, I don't know what this place is called, I just know how to get here!" She grinned, holding her arm up to aim focus towards their surroundings. It was a beautiful peach tree garden. Nothing like the one in the celestial realm but it was still fascinating. "It feels like a safe place here, I don't often come here but I wanted to show it to you! It reminds me of when we were getting that peach of immortality!" She beamed, he found himself staring at her, her smile was so pretty and adorable, and the way she bounced around when she was passionate about something, it was almost too much for him to take in when he really thought about it.
