Season 3, after the battle. Dragonfruit fans know it as the scene where we see red son and mei hugging on a bench lmao. (Title means 'crying alone' btw.)

"Hey Mei what's wrong?" MK's familiar voice rang in her ear.

"Oh it's nothing- don't worry about it MK." Mei wiped her nose and put on a fake smile, good enough that MK seemed to believe it. He gave her a hug and then walked away to check on Pigsy's cooking.Mei sat alone, she dragged herself up from the log and over behind some trees. She was wanting to hide, and she was leaning against a tree. She slid down it, until she hit the floor, her eyes watering. She didn't want anyone to see her cry. She was the bubbly friend who everyone turned to when they were feeling like this. She wrapped her arms around herself and dropped her head onto her arms. She wasn't usually like this... it took a lot to make her cry. She was so overwhelmed by the samadhi fire and trying to figure out her worth, this time she couldn't handle it. She jumped when she heard footsteps. "Wh-who is there?" She sniffed and quickly tried to tidy herself up. No one responded. Mei's puffy eyes gave her away regardless of if she was trying to hide her emotions or not. "MK? Sandy? Hello..." Her voice lowered to a whisper as she grew skittish. Her eyes dashed over to a rustling bush, and out stepped... Red son? "R-red son? What are you uh- d-doing here?" She panicked, looking around, trying to cover up fast.

"Better question, what are you doing out here?" He shot back, eyes ablaze, but his gaze softened when he saw her face lit up by light. "Have you been crying?" He asked, bewildered.

"What! No! N-n-n-no!" She waved her arms in alarm.

"Do not lie to me, dragon girl." He crossed his arms and walked over, his eyes narrowed.

"It's not a lie," She held her gaze and they stared at each other, trying to break the other. Mei felt her eyes begin to well up. She quickly snapped and rushed towards him, wrapping her arms around him and sobbing. Tears flowing out of her eyes like rivers. Red son tensed but gently wrapped an arm around her. She looked up at him, and that's when he saw her red shot eyes.

"Mei! What is it?" He held her back and gently led her to the grass, he sat beside her, watching intently. She sat silently, debating what to say.

"I'm afraid... I barely managed to control the samadhi fire, even with all of the training. The Lady Bone Demon possessed me for celestial's sake! And all of the samadhi fire drama opened the way for- well..." She wrapped her arms around her knees, insecure. Red son blinked slowly at her and she looked down. "The not-so-pretty thoughts started to creep in." She groaned, shoving her head into her arms. "Now it's hardly about the samadhi fire!" She wept, looking up a little, just enough to make eye contact with him. "I just feel worthless!" She cried. Red son felt a pang of sympathy for the girl, which was something he never would have expected.

"Mei..." He whispered.

"I have no place! I don't even have my own power! I basically stole yours! And all I have is a sword and my ancestor's powers!" She looked at him, her eyes pleading for hope.

"Mei," He began.

"I am replaceable! And-!" She was cut off when Red son slapped his hand over her mouth.

"ENOUGH! MEI, none of this is true, and any other day you wouldn't believe the things you are saying!" He stared at her, having no idea what to do next.

"That's not true." She hissed.

"I swear if you say another bad thing about yourself I am going to burn down this forest right now! And you can explain this to your friends!" He glared at her and her eyes watered before she began to cry into her knees again. Perhaps maybe his usual charms weren't the right approach when she was crying... he scooted over to her, grabbed her hand, and placed his other hand on her shoulder. She looked up, a tear slipping down her face.

"If you are going to say things like that then-" He cut her off by giving her a hug.

"I think I understand now... and I'll be here for you." He gave her a squeeze before letting go. Mei gave him a weak smile, her face red from crying. Mei fell into him and wrapped herself around him, crying into his chest. They stayed that way for a bit. "All I can say is, I think you're amazing. You have a lot of skill for a seemingly mortal. And you are most definitely not replaceable, never say that again." Mei once again looked up at him, still snuggled up against him, she nodded, her face heated up with a blush.

"Awww did you just compliment me?" She sniffed, her voice weak, yet her personality began to return to her. He looked away, his face burning red.

"We aren't mentioning any of this to the others correct?" He double checked with her and she nodded. "Well then, yes, I did. Everyone deserves to be praised by their friends." He shrugged.

"Did you just call me your friend?" She smirked. Giving him a nudge. He blushed and smiled at her.

"We are, right?" He stammered. Mei smiled and sat up. He watched her with hopeful eyes. She leaned towards him and placed a kiss on his cheek. He couldn't get any redder, and his stomach couldn't get any more twisted.

"I'd assume so now." She mumbled, gazing up at him. Red son stood up and held out a hand to her. She grabbed his hand in hers and he pulled her off of the grass with a tug. She tripped and fell into him with the sound of a crack. "Shoot!" She panicked and jumped away from him. "I am so sorry!" She buzzed around him, trying to make sure he was alright.

"Ahh~" He grunted. He held his ankle and leaned against a rock. "No- it's fine, you didn't mean for it to happen." Mei suddenly giggled. "Uh-"

"If MK broke your ankle you would have broken him!" She laughed. "But why are you so chill?" She crossed her arms before wrapping his arm around her shoulders so she could help him walk back.

"I guess I could say, you're special." They both blushed and talked as they walked back to the camp, where they ended up making food around a fire, And Red son and Mei sat beside each other.
