Mei flopped on her bed with a sigh. Finally, They were home, or at least she was at the noodle shop, which was basically her home. She rolled over onto her back. They just returned from a month-long mission! They didn't tell anyone they left, only expecting to be gone a day or two! Instead- they were gone for 29 days! She pulled out her phone from under her pillow. Wukong insisted she leave it. She turned it on to find a spam of messages from her mom, dad, social media, and... Red son? She clicked on his first, sitting up.

"Dragon girl." (29 days ago)

"I have a question." (27 days ago)

"Aren't you always on your phone?" (25 days ago)

"Are you upset with me? I don't recall doing anything." (20 days ago)

"Mei seriously what is it?" (15 days ago)

"If you want to be that way. Fine then." (8 days ago)

"I wanted to send this because there's word that you've all disappeared? If you see this at least respond to this, you don't have to answer my other prompts." (5 days ago)

"3 days you've all been missing. I went to the shop. I saw your mother and father, they're worried sick. At least reassure them you're okay if you can." (2 days ago)

"I'm sorry Mei, I'll just wait for you to respond if you decide to, or if you even are able to." (3:47 am)

The fact that he sent a message at 3am worried her. Was he staying up all night concerned for them? Didn't he- yknow- hate them? Her eyes teared up a little, he actually did care. She was about to respond when screaming started downstairs.

"Where WERE YOU ALL!" Red son lashed. He flung open the door, stomping inside, his hair ablaze.

"Oh hey sup!" MK bounced over. "We just went on a lil quest!" He sat down at the counter next to Tang.

"And NO ONE decided to mention it?" He grumbled. MK and Pigsy exchanged a nervous glance, tapping their fingers on the countertop.

"The important thing is that we're back! And it's nice to see you have human emotions!" Sandy wrapped his arms around Mo who purred in response.

"I- of course I have emotions." He muttered bitterly. He crossed his arms and rolled his eyes.

"Why exactly are you so concerned?" Tang leaned against the counter, resting his head in his hand.

"W-well I just-" He found himself blushing and that's when he realized Mei wasn't down here with everyone... did she not come back!? "Now that we're sort of an alliance it's important to make sure that your allies are... well- alive." He stated flatley.

Mei recognized that voice. Red boy! She dashed over to the stairs, a newfound pep in her step. She almost slipped on the first step. Catching herself, she gripped the rail and flew down the steps. When she got downstairs she looked up from the floor and immediately met eyes with Red son. His eyes rounded and he blushed slightly. Mei felt a pang of sympathy, he thought she was dead...

Without hesitation Red son ignored Wukong's comment and ran over to her, gripping her shoulders.

"Why didn't you tell me!" He shook her and she froze.

"I-I well- I didn't realize we'd be gone so long... plus, I figured why would you care heh." She laughed awkwardly as he kept staring at her. A moment later and they were still staring.

"OH. EM. GEE. ARE YOU GUYS SECRETLY DATING?" Wukong gasped, and dropped his drink.

"WHAT! NO! EW!" Red son shoved her back as they both shouted.
