The gang had gone from the mall, to the arcade, to the park, and now to the noodle shop. And by the gang, that includes everyone! Mei was fairly excited to have Red son there with her. He was very awkward today, less of his usual burning self. Pigsy was off in the kitchen with the help of the Demon Bull King, to prepare a spectacularly spicy meal. Mei looked up when she saw MK rushing towards her, dragging Red son along with.

"What's up?" Mei cocked her head.

"I wanted to go play the monkey king game! Or the remake as you could say." MK's voice lowered to a whisper. "More like it's Macaque's cardboard picture looking one." He smiled excitedly. Often they liked to make fun of it, especially since while playing, you see a lot of Macaque's ego.

"Say no." Red son muttered, glaring at Mk. MK looked horrified.

"How dare you. Now you are playing for sure. And you too Mei." He grabs the two of them and pulls them along upstairs. MK jumps to sit in front of the tv and turns on the console.

"How do we play again?" Mei asked, sitting beside MK. Red son stood watching from afar.

"It's super easy! Here, I'll do a new game." MK scrolls to the option 'new game' and then selects 'save slot 2'.

"Yay! I get my own copy!" Mei beamed. She grabbed the controller from MK when an aggravating voice called up.

"MK! GET DOWN HERE RIGHT NOW! YOU AREN'T DONE HELPING! THIS DINNER AINT GONNA COOK ITSELF." Pigsy was not happy. Mei gave him a sympathetic smile and MK stood up groaning.

"It's always me!" MK heads downstairs sluggish, leaving Red son and Mei upstairs. Mei smiled when their eyes met.

"Hey! Join me!" She motioned for him to sit next to her and he hesitantly sat beside her. "Do you wanna start or should I?" Mei offered the controller but he stared at her.

"I have no need to play this ridiculous rip off." He shrugged, his usual angry tone in his voice.

"Suit yourself!" She turned to face the tv and began pressing buttons. After five minutes of their 'journey to the west' Red son was invested in the game, just as she was. "How the heck am I supposed to get over this!" Mei was growing agitated at the level. "He literally sets us up to lose!" She rolled her eyes. Red son put his hand on hers to stop her. She looked at him as if he just blew up the world.

"Sorry. I don't mean it like that-" Red son hisses and grabs the controller from her. "You have to think like a villain, not a hero. If Macaque made this, why would he want the good guys to win?" Red son pointed out as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. "You can't just save the girl from this marriage, you gotta scare the heck out of that ugly demon first." He stated.

"If he's an ugly demon what does that make you?" Mei laughed.

"Not an ugly demon?" He responded, bewildered.

"Who says you aren't ugly?" She teased. Red son's expressions faded. He couldn't believe she thought he was... ugly. Mei realized what she just said. "I-I'm sorry! I just- usually... joke like this with MK, it's just a joke, but you aren't MK. And- well, yeah I'm sorry, I didn't mean it." She smiled apologetically.

"No. no. I think I get it. I wouldn't expect a dragon human peasant like you to know how beauty works in the demon genre." Red son looked at her with disgust and Mei's heart sank. Why did she say that?

"No! I don't think you're ugly!" Mei hesitated.

"Drop it Mei." Red son whispered coldly. He focused on the game and began to play again, trying to help her with the level. Mei sat awkwardly, wishing she could take back everything that just happened. Now that she thought about it, she never really focused on what he looked like before. Honestly, now that she was looking, she thought he was cute, really cute. She found herself staring, and she jumped back, looking at the screen.
