One of the empousi ran at Sally, talons out. Sally dove out of the way, holding her sword. She looked around and saw the boys fighting one of the girls, and it was clear that it was hard for them to fight something they saw as human. The empousi ran at Sally again, but this time she swung her sword. The sword went right through the girl, and she screamed as she turned to dust. The boys saw this, and Bobby ran at the girl and stabbed her. As she turned to dust, both Bobby and Mathew stared at where she had been standing, and high-fived.
Sally turned around to see the girl from her dream fighting Paul and Joyce. It was clear this girl was better at fighting, since neither of them were able to kill her. Sally ran towards them sword in hand, and right when she was about to stab down, the girl turned and grabbed the sword, and threw it. Sally tried to escape, but the girl grabbed her by the throat and started squeezing.
"Drop your weapons, or she dies" said the girl.
Everyone looked terrified for Sally, and dropped their weapons. The girl laughed, and released her hold. Sally dropped to the ground, choking and breathing in the oxygen in the air.
"Now, it seems I forgot to introduce myself" said the girl, scanning the room. "My name is Kelli, and it seems Sally Jackson, Percy never told you about me. I have tried to destroy him many times, but he always managed to kill me, and escape my grasp. After so many years, he has finally met his match."
Sally was lying on the ground, and looked at Kelli in surprise. Percy had told her he had fought some evil girls before that were empousi, but he never told her that it was the same girl.
"Percy is finally dead" Kelli continued, "and my master will get his revenge."
"Your- your master is Zeus?" Sally managed to say through her shock.
Kelli laughed "No, he is but a pawn in my master's plan."
None of this made sense. Zeus was the one that killed Percy, Sally had seen it with her own eyes. He did say that he hadn't been in control of his own actions, but she was so sure that he had been lying. Now, she wasn't so sure.
Kelli looked amused by the confusion on Sally's face, before saying one final thing.
"My master is calling me now, so I will be making my leave, but don't think you got away with this. I will be coming for you, and next time, you won't be so lucky."
Kelli disappeared, leaving the the five of them confused, and still in shock from the sudden attack. She had said she would be back, which meant the Chase's were in danger the longer Sally stayed.
"Guys, I think, I have to leave." As Paul and Joyce started to protest, Sally put her hand up.
"The longer I stay here, the longer you're in danger. I will pack my bags, and buy a plane ticket for the next flight home. Thank you for letting me stay here, but I will not put you in danger."
Sally left the attic to go back to the guest room, and started to look at flights to Manhattan. While looking, she heard a knock on her door.
"Come in"
Joyce walked in the room holding a plate of pancakes, and offered them to Sally. She took them gratefully, she was starving from the encounter with Kelli and the other girls. Joyce left the room, and Sally ate her breakfast. She found a cheap flight for the next day at noon, and emailed Paul that she was leaving and when to pick her up. Sally stayed in the room all day, thinking about what Kelli had said. She had said that her master hadn't been Zeus, but was the one to kill Percy.
Sally had been plotting revenge against the gods for months, thinking that Percy had been killed for absolutely no reason. Zeus had been saying persistently that he wasn't the one in control of his body and actions, and Sally hadn't believed him at all, and said he was a liar. But what if he had actually been telling the truth, and she had been planning revenge against the wrong person this whole time?
The next day, Sally left for the airport after saying bye to everyone. After getting there, she made her way to her plane, and was headed back home. When she got off the plane, she found Paul's car, and loaded her things. On the way home, Paul was asking Sally how her trip was, and if she had fun. She lied and said they had a lot of fun, so he wouldn't be worried. She realized that this was what Percy did all the time when he left to go on quests. He sugarcoated it, to make sure that Sally wouldn't be concerned.
When they got back to their apartment, Sally sat on the couch and broke down into tears. Paul didn't know why she was crying but he sat next to her and hugged her, waiting for her to be ready and say why she was upset. Eventually, she explained everything, how Fred and Joyce had agreed to join her mission, her nightmare, the attack, Kelli's threat, and what she revealed about Percy's death. Paul listened, very concerned for Sally, but it was clear she didn't need someone fussing over her. When she was done, Paul pulled her into a hug.
"I'm very happy that you and the Chase's are okay, but what are we going to do if Kelli comes here? We don't have any weapons if she attacks again" Paul said.
"I was thinking we could go to Camp Half-Blood and take some things from the armory. Chiron might even let us stay there so we are protected by the camp's magic. He could help us figure out who Kelli's master is and how to defeat them."
Paul nodded, and held up his keys. "Why don't we go now? The sooner we are protected or at least armed, the more chance we have of defeating Kelli in her next attack."
Paul packed a suitcase, and Sally put hers back in the car. They both got in, and Paul started driving to Camp Half-Blood, where they would hopefully be safe.
