The Funeral

A few hours before Percy's funeral, Sally was curled on the couch with a box filled with Percy's clothes and other things. In the box was his old Camp Half-Blood t-shirt, a pair of his jeans, and his sneakers. The clothes he wore almost everyday, but they weren't being worn anymore. Sally was looking at the items with tears in her eyes, remembering how much he loved going to camp. She got a flash to when he was killed and how it happened, and was filled with anger.

Percy never got to grow old with his loved ones, he didn't even graduate high school. He couldn't be there when Estelle was born, but was pronounced dead as a newborn (A/N ~ Sorry, didn't know how to put her in the story). He never got to enjoy his teen years because they were all spent saving the world. Even before he found out about the gods, he didn't have a great life. Never spending more than a year at a school and barely ever having friends wasn't a great childhood.

Sally sat on the couch for an hour, all these thoughts racing through her head. Eventually, Paul came in the living room in his black clothes to get Sally. He sat on the couch next to her and held her hand.

"Hey sweetie, you doing alright?" he asked with concern.

She looked at him and said, "Yeah, I'm okay, just thinking".

"Okay" said Paul, "Just, try not to center this day around what the gods did to him and his friends. Lets just preserve his memory as the amazing kid who could make anyone laugh, and was loved, okay?".

"Okay, but if the gods try and do something," said Sally "I'm not going to be able to handle it without exposing my plans, you will have to say something".

Paul was afraid she was going to say that, but knew she was right. If any of the gods tried to even say something about Percy, she wouldn't be able to contain her anger, and would get in huge trouble. The gods might hurt her, or worst case scenario, kill her in their anger. Poseidon might be able to keep them from doing anything bad, but if she exposes any part of her revenge plots, Paul didn't think anything could keep the gods from "disposing" of her to keep themselves safe and secure.

The two of them walked out of their apartment and got in the car. Sally sat in the passenger seat looking down at her box of Percy's things while Paul drove them to camp. It felt like just yesterday when they were doing the same thing, but this time it was because someone of their own family got killed, and not someone who only felt like family. Last time, Sally and Paul had been driving to Camp Half-Blood to be there for Percy in that dark time. Now it was because Percy was gone and other people were going to come and support them in their dark time.

When they finally arrived, Chiron came trotting up to the car with a bag over his back, and the holders all had boxes of tissues. He had a box in his hand as well but it seemed that was for him, as he was grabbing some as he went down the hill towards them.

"Hello Sally, hello Paul. I hope you're doing well" said Chiron.

"Thank you" said Sally. "We are doing well for everything that's happened. It's been tough, but my biggest supporter has always been there for me." She said this while looking at Paul lovingly.

The three of them went up the hill to where Thalia had been a tree. Chiron walked right through the border but Paul and Sally were stopped.

"Um, Chiron?" said Paul. "The border?"

"Oh yes, sorry. I, Chiron, give Sally Jackson and Paul Blofis permission to enter Camp Half-Blood."

Sally and Paul walked through the border and down the hill towards the Big House, where the other demigod parents were waiting to greet them and give condolences. As they walked over to them, the gods could be seen standing behind them in their black clothes. Paul gave Sally's hand a squeeze after he felt her grip tighten. The first couple they saw was Frederick and and his wife Mrs. Chase.
