Chapter thirty nine
"Prom entertainment."It was now six days till junior prom and those in glee who were going seemed to be up most high as Caroline was just trying to stay out of targeting range, which was why she arrived at glee club last minute "okay, guys, prom." Mr Schuester told them "please, tell me we're not doing songs about prom." Sam told him cause the white board said prom "nope. We are the prom. Figgins has asked us to perform." Mr Schuester told them "that's even worse." Caroline said as Sam motioned to her "let' do run, joey, run." Rachel told them "oh, wow, lovely. I'll be going to my first ever prom and be forced to listen to the song that ruined my first relationship." Caroline shared.
"Now, I know this isn't ideal with nationals coming up, but we really don't have a choice. And we could really use the money. But I know that prom is a special ride of passage. I wanna make sure that all you guys get a chance to enjoy the dance, too. So, we're gonna stagger the performances so that each and every one of you has a lot of time to dance with your dates." Mr Schuester told them "excuse me." Mercedes said as she stood up and walked out "is she okay?" Mr Schuester asked "Mercedes doesn't have a date for prom." Quinn shared "so, I don't have a date. I'm just going to dance, and all your dates are going to ignore you and come dance with me, so your dates are really my dates." Britney told them.
"I'm gonna go talk to Mercedes." Kurt told them, going to get up "no, let me." Rachel told him, getting up and walking out as Caroline looked to Mr Schuester "she's not really singing, run Joey run, right? Cause if she does I might actually die." she shared "no, no." Mr Schuester shook his head, as Caroline nodded.
Caroline the next day, was walking into the auditorium, having been thinking about songs to sing at the prom that wasn't even her's as the audio visual club was working on set's for prom on the stage "oh I didn't know anyone was gonna be here. Normally it's just me. But, uh, you guys go out your business and I'll go about mine? Yeah, okay." Caroline told them, turning on her heel, she walked up to the piano and put the sheet music on it as she brought her guitar out from around her, she soon started playing the opening cords to rolling in the deep by Adele as she started singing.
"there's a fire
starting in my heart
reaching a fever pitch and it's bringing me out the dark."
And as she continued to play, she went to sing the next part but she heard someone else's voice, that she never thought she was gonna hear again as it made her stop playing as she looked up from her guitar to the door to the auditorium, seeing Jesse standing there.
"Finally
I can see you crystal clear
Go ahead and sell me out and I'll lay your ship bare."Then Caroline found it in her to start playing again, as she kept her eyes on Jessie as he began walking in.
"See how I'll leave
With every piece of you
Don't underestimate
The things that I will do
There's a fire
Starting in my heart
Reaching a fever pitch and it's bringin' me out the dark."He then had walked down the steps, Caroline felt her heart speeding up, knowing that he was coming towards her but she could find it in her for her feet to move yet all while her head was screaming at her to run out of there, but she didn't, she couldn't, as he then jumped down the last few steps, keeping eye contact with her, as he came closer, he soon stopped moving as he just looked at her, singing to her.
