The road was long and bumpy.
"Are we there yet? it's been 6 hours." I complained. I felt sick. I hate riding in carriages.
"We have an hour left Boruto. Be patient. You're not the only one who feels claustrophobic." My dad annoyingly said.
"This is so stupid. Why throw a coming of age party and make it a masquerade?" I complained.
"The king of Volcania doesn't want his daughter's identity to be revealed." He responded.
I rolled my eyes and turned to Kawaki with my hand on the corner of my mouth , "You think his daughter is ugly? I'm not buying any of that crap. She probably looks like an ogre!" I whispered.
Smack
"That's not polite Boruto." My mother scolded.
"Sorry Mom"
I didn't understand why we were attending this ball. We've gotten countless invitations from other kingdoms around the world pleading us to attend their daughter's ball, but we've never attended.
The main reason being is that Kawaki and I have already had our coming of age party. A stupid party to show that we were ready for marriage. Everyone in the country was dying to attend, but only royals got an invitation.
Every Ruler from all of the Kingdoms brought their daughters to marry them off to us.
We met every single one of them, and every one of them tried their hardest to win our favor.
But the night ended with not a single princess on either of our arms. That's why it was so pointless to attend the others. We've already met them and didn't want them, why bother?
What's so special about this one?

We finally arrived...late. We were greeted by the castle guards at the gate.
"Invitation" The guard requested.
My dad held up a red and white pin and the guards stepped aside to let us enter.
When we walked in, the place was filled with red and pink colors. The table cloths were made of fine red silk along with pink flower centerpieces. Even the floor tiles had a faint color of pink.
"So prettyyy" My sister said in awe
I merely scoffed, "Childish" and went ahead.
I found myself at the refreshment table, trying to hide. Although this is masquerade party, everyone had dressed up in their royal colors. And it just so happens that MY family is the only one with blue as their signature.
"Is that HIM?"
"Obviously! Who else would show up with blue? And look at his hair!"
I overhear the loud whispers around me. I look around trying to find an escape route and suddenly see a familiar head. I walk towards him, not caring if he's already in the middle of a conversation.
"Shikadai! How you been? It's been a while!" I interrupt. He turns around to face me with a look of surprise on his face. He looks to my left side and just like that, he got the message.
He left whoever he was talking to and started spitting nonsense to make it look like we were busy.

I've been dodging all the thirsty girls all night. Damn masquerade, what good is it if I'm still recognized? I finally slipped away to the outside garden for a stroll.
I found myself at a gazebo thunder the moonlight. I walked towards the bench only to find someone occupying it.
"Oh I'm sorry, I didn't think anyone was here."
