I decided to haul my ass to write this for anyone who doesn't have a Valentine this year. This way, you can have something to look forward to today :)

Sure enough, Hinata was right. After the episode came out over the weekend, it's all everyone's been talking about. Sarada couldn't go anywhere without people talking about it. Especially at work. It became a hot topic.

"I totally ship them"

"They have so much chemistry"

"She did say she had a crush on him. The signs were there!"

Their fans were supportive of the new relationship. No objections were made.

A few days later, they were spotted walking around upper Konoha. A few shopping bags were hanging on Boruto's arm and Sumire held a small Tiffany & Co bag. The media raved about them. They were on the front page of the gossip magazines.

Fan accounts were made along with a new hashtag: #borusumi

It was insane. To think that such an uproar was created by a mere appearance on a cooking show and a small photo of them shopping. She couldn't imagine being a celebrity. She wondered if they ever got overwhelmed by all of the attention. Hell, she was overwhelmed and it had nothing to do with her.

Hearing the approvals towards the new relationship made her feel discouraged. She thought she had a chance at winning his heart, but would everyone else? Was he better off with Sumire? Did Sarada deserve someone like him? Would he fall for a girl who was barely getting by? What did she have to offer?

Nothing. She didn't have anything to offer him. Except for her heart. But that's not enough. No matter how many quotes or ted talks she saw, love isn't enough. That's what she believed anyway.

Valentine's day was only a few days away and it made her feel lonely. She hated Valentine's day because it was a holiday for couples to have an excuse to rub their relationship in front of everyone else's faces. The constant competition to see whose boyfriend was better from the overly decorated sceneries.

And then the men show off their girlfriends to social media. The girls are all dolled up wearing their best outfits.

It was a holiday that made you feel like shit if you were single. You sit there in the dark, wondering if you're the problem. You wonder if you're really okay with being alone.

You're not.

Sarada also became aware of the fact that this was one of the holidays that was the hardest for her mom. Sakura usually took the day off on Valentine's day. She says it's because she takes the day to go and visit Sasuke. She sits there for hours talking to his headstone.

Sarada knows she misses him. This holiday had to be the worst for widows. She couldn't fathom the pain. Not feeling the warmth of your partner's embrace that once burned your skin. The soft, pillowy lips that graced yours in one swift move. The queen sized bed that was meant for two people, now being half full.

She wondered if her mother had made peace with Sasuke's absence.

She hasn't.

But did Sarada need to know that? No.

This year, Sarada didn't want to spend the day of love alone. So she decided upon herself to have a galentines with her mother. It's time to make different traditions. Time to stop the feelings of hate on the day they should be loving.

After this shift, she was going shopping.

Boruto sat on the freshly washed white sheets that lay on the bed. His hair was wet from the steaming hot shower he took. He had a white towel hanging around his neck. Steam was emitting from his body while the cool air in the hotel room refreshed him.
