adriana's pov
here i was. at school on a saturday, 8:00am sharp. i sat in my corvette and rubbed my eyes, still trying to wake myself up. i turned my car off and dragged myself inside the school.
detention is to be held in the library in the west wing of the campus, i remembered my principal telling me. i rolled my eyes at the thought.
i entered the library and saw i was the only one here. great. i can just do my time and put my head down. not like i'd want to interact with anyone who ever got detention regularly anyway. i shuttered at the thought of doing so.
"you're 2 minutes late, torres" i heard an aged and deep male voice say. "sorry mr. wilson" i apologized. "so.. am i the only one here today?" i asked, taking a seat at an empty table. "if you're lucky" mr. wilson muttered.
he sat on a desk as if he was waiting for more people. i prayed that wasn't the case. i unlocked my phone and opened tiktok trying to make time go faster. "aht, aht" mr. wilson snapped. i looked up. "no phones."
my jaw dropped. no phones? i'm supposed to be here until 12. "hand it over, young lady" he said as he laid his hand out. i groaned, then dropped my phone in mr. wilsons hand.
i heard footsteps approaching the library but ignored it. "mr. caesar-su, nice of you to join us" mr. wilson commented. "yeah well you threatened to expel me so not like i had much of a choice" mr. caesar-su sassed.
"sit your ass down, oakley" mr. wilson demanded. "yessir" oakley replied. i turned to look over at him. i knew i've seen him around at school but i have no idea who he is.
he was wearing a nike tech tracksuit with sneakers. he was wearing a beanie but some of his curls peeked out. though the tracksuit covered his body, i could still see his body was inked.
he sat at a table behind from me diagonally. i didn't pay him much mind and sat in my seat quietly. mr. wilson took oakley's phone and i let out small laugh. "something funny, ms. torres?" mr. wilson asked, placing his hands on his hips.
"nope" i replied. "i'll be back soon. no funny business" wilson pointed sternly. with that, he left.
the library remained quiet. i didn't have much else to do. i was tired so i put my head down, trying to get comfortable.
i felt something lightly hit my back. probably the air, i thought.
i felt it again.
i straightened my back and turned around. i saw that guy messing with bits of erasers. "quit it" i sassed, staring at him. he looked up, suppressing a smirk. "quit what?" he asked. i rolled my eyes and turned around.
this time i felt a thicker eraser hit me. ugh. "dude, grow up seriously" i spat, turning around again. "i don't know what you're on about" oakley said in a dramatic tone. we're seniors in high school and this kid acts like a sixth grader.
"you're throwing chunks of erasers at me, you dick" i said, obviously getting angry. "did you just call me a dick? well that wasn't very nice coming from our schools prom queen" he raised an eyebrow and leaned in his chair.
he pretended to wipe a tear. what an ass.
"i'm not prom queen yet" i said. i had just began putting up my posters yesterday. he stayed quiet. he pulled out a cart pen from his pocket and hit it.
"who even are you?" i asked, obviously trying to insult him. "oakley" he stated, taking another hit from his cart. "and you're adriana" he added, blowing the air. well, i'm not surprised he knew who i was but i thought it was still weird.
