oakley's pov

"of course, what are friends for?"

"oh, so friends just be kissin' each other now?" 

i crossed my arms as adriana found the words to retort back to me. "it was one time" she whispered. 

we went back inside the hospital room. after about 20 minutes, we said goodbye. jesus, why am i simping so hard? this girl just friend zoned me. 

adriana turned to hug me before leaving and my hands weren't shy as i held her close. she pulled away and for a second we met eyes. it was energy as if we were going to kiss.

we didn't. *rolls eyes*

as i made my way back to the hospital room i adjusted my hat. gram was laying in the bed, snacking on some pudding the nurse gave her. i sat down in the chair next to her.

"are you and adriana dating?" gram asked. "not yet" i replied. 

"just kiddin'" i immediately corrected myself. "c'mon gram, you know i'm not the type to legitimately date" i added. she raised a brow. "you're right about that."

"you ain't shit" she laughed. even though that was only partially true, i was just glad to see my grandmother laughing. 

"i'm glad you're okay gram" i said as i held her hand. it was warm. i remember when i held it earlier it was nearly ice cold. 

fuck. i realized i didn't even pack a bag of things to bring to stay overnight. "gram?" i said. "yes oakley?" she answered. "i think i'm gonna head back home to bring a change of clothes" i said.

"it's okay oakley, go home, it's late" gram answered. i shook my head, "it's fine gram, i want to stay overnight with you" i said. 

she looked at me with firm eyes. "go home oakley" she demanded. i didn't want to argue. "alright" i replied. 

only problem was it was getting late and the buses were closed. then a bulb went off. adriana...

i let my grandmother know that i'd be leaving soon. i kissed her on her forehead and left with that. next thing i knew i was with adriana in her corvette.

"hey" she greeted. i gave her a nod and shut the door behind me. "15 minutes to home" siri spoke from the gps. "did you need me to put in my address?" i asked.

she shook her head. "no. i'm home alone tonight so we're going to my house" she said, eyes on the road. 

"fine by me" i said under my breath. "bruh, not like that" adriana laughed. "my sister is at my cousins and my dad is on a business trip" she said. "and?" i asked.

"and... i don't like being by myself" adriana offered an embarrassed smile. "why don't you invite drea?" i asked her. "do you want me to take you home?"

"no ma'am"

"then shut up"

i ain't said shit the ride back.
