adriana's pov

piles of laughter filled the dorm yet i had no desire to join. i was at my freshman dormitory welcoming party.

as the name states, it was for my university's incoming freshman. and it was mandatory to attend.

i looked down at my cup of whatever and bit my lip in thought.

life has been a blur since oakley's passing a few months ago. i haven't talked to drea since oakley and ricky's memorial. it doesn't help our friendship that she's going to a college across the country.

i downed the rest of my drink.

i placed my empty cup down on the coffee table and went to go look for what other selections of drinks there are.

i made my way passed the crowd of people and walked to the fridge.

music blasted at a semi uncomfortable rate but it wasn't too bothersome. at least i couldn't hear any guys if they came up to me trying to talk.

i grabbed a bottle of mikes and walked back to the couch i was couped up on before.

there was a guy stealing glances over at me. i looked away to ignore it.

after a few minutes, he hasn't stopped. unfortunately, he began making his way to approach me.

goodie, i turned the other direction.

the guy sat beside me, with a mikes in his hand as well. i stayed quiet. "you need some help?" he shouted over the music, gesturing to my closed bottle. "i got it, thanks" i shouted back.

"i'm alvaro..." the guy introduced. he had some sort of accent. "adriana" i said sternly. damn, i see why i had the 'stuck up' reputation in high school.

whatever. i don't really feel like socializing right now.

or ever.

"you're a freshman too, right?" he continued to shout over the music. i nodded my head to answer his question. ugh, when will he go away?

i'm being extra bitchy on purpose, can't he tell?

"so, do you want to come back to my dorm after this?" he leaned closer to me. my face scrunched in disgust. "no thanks" i sassed.

my phone dinged with a notification and i took it out of my back pocket. i looked down at my screen confused.

some unknown number texting me. whatever, i was desperate to get out of this situation. i got up swiftly and made my way to the balcony which faced the entire dormitory campus.

the moon shined down onto me and the crickets could be heard chirping as the music faded. i kept walking to gather more space around me.

i unlocked my phone and tapped the notification.
